Boeing Machinists
thank all of labor
for their support
To The Editor:
As president of Willamette Lodge
63, I would like to extend a grateful
thanks to my union Brothers and Sis-
ters who graciously lent assistance to
our recent strike with the Boeing Com-
pany.
The combined effort of the entire
Northwest labor community is deeply
appreciated. We could not have done it
without you.
In the spirit of solidarity, we came
together to do the right thing. Together,
we achieved results that individually
were unattainable. This is the power of
labor. This is the power of community.
Combining labor and community,
we have achieved many things to be
proud of.
Again, I want to thank every one of
you for your involvement and commit-
ment to this cause.

Get a real job, Bill Sizemore
To The Editor:
It looks like the State of Oregon has
just said no six times to Bill Sizemore.
I believe all five of his measures lost
and one old one was overturned by
Measure 56. That was the one that re-
quired 50 percent of voters to partici-
pate to pass tax measures which made
non-votes a ‘no’ vote. Oregon’s voting
system is as easy as it gets. No standing
in line in rain, snow or cold to vote. Just
mail it in, or drop it off at designated
drop sites. Simple. Quit rewarding no-
shows the power of deciding measures.
As far as all of his other anti-labor, anti-
Union Food Bank needs financial help
The holiday season is upon us, and the Carpenters Food Bank is appealing
for cash donations to help feed those in need. The all-volunteer food bank, now
in its 25th year, is housed in the basement of the union hall at 2205 N. Lom-
bard, Portland. The food bank feeds 425 to 500 families the third Friday each
month, said Mike Fahey, who along with his wife Sandy, coordinate the pro-
gram. Mike Fahey is a former leader of the Portland Metal Trades Council.
The November food boxes will be distributed today, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. The Christmas food box distribution will take place from 9 a.m. to 2
p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19. Fahey said cash donations are needed to help purchase
food items — including meat and turkeys — at bulk rate prices.
Contributions can be sent to: Food Bank, P.O. Box 17358, Portland OR
97217.

union measures, tough luck Bill.
Public service is one of the hardest
jobs there is. Sizemore has said he
won’t quit until “the unions are gone.”
Good luck with that one, Bill.
And this is from a guy who lives off
the dole of rich conservatives. What a
hypocrite. The way it’s going for him,
he might have to get a real job if his rich
buddies get tired of financing failure.
Don’t get your hands dirty, Bill. Oh,
and don’t forget to pay your taxes.

CORRECTION
In the Oct. 17 issue, the Northwest Labor Press wrongly reported an election
loss for Laborers Local 483 in the “Local Motion” feature, which lists union or-
ganizing wins and losses. In fact, Local 483 won the election at the City of Sil-
verton Public Works Department. The vote was 13 for Local 483, 0 for no
union, and 1 to keep a stand-alone employee association. All eligible members
of the bargaining unit voted.
The NW Labor Press regrets the error.
