I have this crush on a
guy who I've known for
awhile, but I know that he
likes someone else, and I've
already told him I like him.
He always treats me like
he does like me back, but
in a way where he doesn't

If you've already told

Most likely, your parents -
are just concerned about
you. Show them that you
can balance having a
boyfriend along with the
other parts of your life. Try
planning an outing or a
movie night with both your
boyfriend and some friends.

a family dinner or event to
show that you can maintain
relationships with him and
the other important people
in your life. Make sure to
leave time for school work
and extracurriculars to
ensure that your boyfriend
isn't a distraction. Also,
try talking to your parents
about why they don't like

conversation with them
could help smooth things

This is one of those
moments when honesty
may be the best policy. Your
girlfriend deserves more
than a hasty burial in your
backyard, even if she was
a zombie. You should call
the police and explain the
situation. It may seem a bit
far fetched to them, so try to
make sure you have some
evidence to back up your
story.

Voodoo Doughnut falls flat; magic is not in the hole

It sounds like a dream
come true, but in actuality,
it is far from it. Voodoo
Doughnut, located on
22 SW Third Avenue in
Portland, is open 24 hours
a day. The shop has long
been known for its weird
and large doughnuts, but
w h e n it co m e s d o w n to it,
the d o u g h n u ts taste like a n y
other I've had.
Although it’s always
open, there was a 35 minute
wait to buy the doughnuts.
It was not worth it! The
shop is small and so the
line was mostly outside the
shop. However, once you
finally enter, the decor is
interesting and the items
on the wall are fun to look
at. There are customized
T-shirts, random photos,
interesting sayings and a
huge doughnut on the back
wall. It’s unfortunate that
it takes so long to actually
make it into the shop.
The doughnuts
themselves are interesting,
but I would've preferred
a regular glazed to one of
their cereal icing topped
doughnuts. An individual
doughnut ranges from
95 cents to $3. A voodoo
dozen, in which they choose
the types is $8.75. A dozen
normal glazed is $6.75. The
voodoo dozen is the way
to go if you want to sample
a variety of their wacky
doughnuts.
While the combination
of different ingredients is
unique, they still tasted like
any other doughnuts and to
be honest, the weirder ones
were not enticing. I don't
understand why Voodoo
Doughnut is so popular.
There are two locations,
the aforementioned and
another on 1501 NE Davis
(also in Portland). The third
avenue location is shady;
right next door is an adult
movie theater. For this
location, parking can be
tricky because it is located
in downtown Portland. Not
only that, but if you don't
want too far of a walk from
the shop, then you have to
pay to park (unless it is a
Sunday). This means you
have to spend more money.
The staff seemed
reasonable, except one
member was smoking
directly outside the shop in
front of the line of people
waiting for their doughnut
fix. She was not dressed to
impress and had several
body piercings. I don’t have
anything against interesting
looking people, but this
made me second guess
my decision to try their .
doughnuts.
While it's exciting to
say you've tried their
doughnuts, the long wait
and average taste were
not worth it. If you have
time to spare and don't
mind standing in a line
for doughnuts, then this is
the place for you. But for
now, I'll stick to my local
Safeway for my doughntit
needs.
