for a job? Try Craigslist,
a website that features
classified advertisements
for jobs (the only category
that requires a fee to post),
housing, personals, for
sale /wanted, services,
resumes, community and
gigs-
Craigslist was started
in 1995 by founder Craig
Newmark. He wanted
to create a website for
his friends that would
alert them to all the cool
upcoming events in San
Francisco, Calif. Word of
the website slowly passed
through the grapevine and
eventually became popular
enough that it needed to
be put on a server, which
required a name, thus
Craigslist was bom. As the
web site gained popularity,
the visitors started to post
items for sale, apartments
for rent/sale and jobs
which pushed Craigslist
into being a classified
website.

but Craigslist only has 22,

It's hard to find a
site that is as unique as
Craiglist according to Jim
Buckmaster, CEO, said at
a conference in New York.
He told them that Craigslist
wasn't about maximizing
profit but instead helping
users find cars, apartments,
jobs and dates. They have
users in mind, which is a
rare quality.
Craigslist has a local
website for each city.
Therefore, all items and
postings are local. Its a
haven for Oregonians that
are tired of garage sales,
although it features posts
for those too. Craigslist is
a website that will stick
around a long time. It's
simple, creative and local.
