Graduating
The West Linn high school
auditorium Monday evening, at
8:00 p.m. will be the scene of
the annual commencemerit ex
ercises.
101 Seniors will take part in
the exercises which will include
a commencement address by Dr.
Bruce Baxter, president of Wil
lamette University. The West
Linn high school orchestra, un
der the direction of Mr. Wade,
will also take part in the com
mencement program.
The Senior class under the di
rection o f President Delbert
Langelears and assisted by
senior class advisors, which in
clude Mrs. Coen, Miss Moe and
Mr. Fors, have been preparing
for the graduation exercises this
past week. These preparations
being augmented by a senior
gradpation program given before
the general student body in pre-

Organizations to
Take Beach Trips
The beach trip sponsored by
the Honor Society and the
Speech Club will be held tomor
row. If enough tickets are sold,
there will be two busses running
to Cannon Beach. Bus tickets are
60 cents for a round trip. Each
person going is to take his own
lunch. Students should watch the
bulletin board for the bus
schedule.
Tickets may be- bought from
Glenn Campbell and Lois Butler,
presidents of the two organiza
tions.
The Amplifier and Annual
staffs have planned a beach trip
for May 30 to Lincoln beach.
Georgia Chaudion
Elected Float Candidate
Georgia Chaudion was elected
as West Linn’s representative as
a candidate for the queen of the
Rose Festival float to be entered
by the Oregon City Rose Festival
association. She was elected last
Tuesday.
Other girls nominated were

bara White, Lois Young, Lois
Heater, Dolores Wilken, Georgia
Chaudoin.
Band Given An
Excellent Rating
The W.L.H.S. band returned
late last Saturday evening from
a trip to the National Regional
contest in Tacoma. The high
school band was given a two
rating which is excellent and
also many of the soloists. Janet
Wieversick, marimphonist, and
Blenda Rhodes, harpist, were
both given superior ratings.

Junior-Senior Sendoff
Scheduled for Today
Baccalaureate
To Be June 1st
Baccalaureate will be held
June 7st in the West Linn audi
torium this year.
After the precessional march of
the high school orchestra, the
invocation will be given by Rev.
Roy W. Anchor, pastor of the
First Presbyterian church of Ore
gon City.
Music for the program will
consist of songs by the Girls’
Chorus.
After the scripture reading, the
baecalaurèate address will be
given by Dr. Anchor.
Cabinet Members
Visit Schools
The members of West Linn’s
student cabinet visited two sou
thern Oregon high schools May
5 to study their forms of student
government.
The group left at 7 a. m. and
spent the morning visiting at
Eugene high school. They at
tended classes and discussed
student government, which is
practised in Eugene in a manner
similar to that of West Linn.
During the lunch period they
were entertained at a noon pro
gram.
At University High in Eugene,
the group attended a council
meeting where the constitution
was being revised. The “Uni”
sudents decided to enlarge their
cabinet to include a delegate
from every organization in the
school.
The West Linn cabinet mem
bers visited the School of Edu
cation before leaving for home.
Those included in the trip
were: President Harold Ness and
Vice-president Gerald Ness, sec
retary, Audrey Church; treasurer,
Gloria Backhart; Senior class
representative Ernest Kahle,
Sophomore, Hazel Grassman;
Freshman, Donald Dennis; court
secretary, Nayda Geske; and stu
dent government advisor, J. A.
Howard.
The Juniors and Seniors will
leave for Jantzen Beach for the
annual Junior-Senior send-off in
two busses at 12:30 today.
There will be activities of all
sorts for everyone. Students must
have an admit ticket with them
in order to buy tickets at a re-
ducion. The price of he con
cession tickets will be fifty cents
for seventy-five cents worth of
tickets. The concessions will open
at 1:00. Those who wish to swim
may, for thirty-five cents if they
furnish their own towel and suit.
A nadditional fifteen cents will
rent a towel and bathing suit.
A picnic dinner will be served
just before returning home. The
dinner, which will consist of hot
dogs, ice cream slices and cokes
was arranged for by Bob Holt
and Gloria Brough. The busses
will leave at 5:30.
There will be a dance in the,
evening with Jimmy Greer’s or
chestra at Jantzen Beach.
Junior class president, Bill
Walston stated that over a hun
dred juniors and seniors are ex
pected to go. He also stated that
no student would be allowed to
go who had unpaid dues. He also
urged all those going to have
their admit tickets with them or
they will miss a lot of fun. The
admit tickets will be issued at
school without charge.
Senior Class Holds
Exercises for Students
Yesterday the Senior class held
its exercise in the West Linn
auditorium.
The seniors marched to the
traditional “Pomp and Circum
stance.” John Beutler, class salu-
torian gave his address followed
by Audrey Church ,the valedic
torian. Lois Young gave the
class history and Ernest Kahle
gave the class prophesy for Dave
Williams. The class will was
read by Betty Easson and the
class poem by Orlena Volpp.
The program was concluded with
the class song by Dolores Wilken,
sung by the girls.
The motto of the class of ’41
is “Before us lies the timber; let
us build” and the class colors
are blue and silver. The class
flower is the white earnation.
