n e w c o m e rs, Cole Timber man
and Arnold Stanley. At the state
. meet last year the mile was won
in 4:35, and last week in prac
tice Cole did it in 4:38, with

Pioneers lost a hotly contested
baseball game to the Canby
tossers, 12 to 11, April 1.
Oregon City played heads up
ball throughout the game. Once
Pat Knoop stole home, an un
usual and risky thing to do.
Knoop also accounted for three,
rdhs, and hit -a grounder for a
double.
Of the three pitchers who en
tered the game for Oregon City,
Musaw Kimura pitched the best
ball, laying in an overhand fast
ball with plenty of stuff behind
it. Bob Mathers also pitched
nice ball, using a nice curve and
sidearm fast ball.
Batteries for the game were;
Oregon City, Maddax, Mathers,
Kimura and Knoop. Canby: Bug
gins, Nibs and Williams.
