Lions to Play Last
Game of the Season
S.B. Play to Be
Friday night the Lions will
meet the Pioneers on their floor
Presented Feb. 28 for
the last game of the season.
The West Linn high school
dramatics department will pre
sent the student body play, ‘The
Vampire Bat,” on February 28.
The cast includes Leroy Ad
ams, Nayda Geske, Lois Young,
Morton Park, Kenneth Lingen-
felder/ Clifton Baker, Jack My-
res, Irene Endres, Vernon Toed-
temeier, Phyllis Miller, Frances
Bernert, Maxine Chaney, Dee
Floyd.
The play is a three-act mys
tery thrilled with a setting on a
desolate Pacific isle. Elaborate
settings are planned under the
direction of Peggy McLure.
Also under production with
tentative trials already begun is
the senior play, “Spring Fever,”
a farce in three acts which is
scheduled for the latter part of
March.
Music Department
Begins Rehearsals
Starting last night the West
Linn music department began
night rehearsals in preparation
for the district contest to be held
at Newberg April 17 and 18. The
music department plans to en
ter the band, brass choir, boys’
glee, girls’ glee, wood wind sex
tet, reed choir, two cornet solo
ists, John Buetler, Bonnie Baty;
trombone solo, Gordon Mhyra;
marimbaphone solo, Janet Wiev-
esieck; baritone horn, Marge
Larson; piano solo, Delores Han
son ; clarinet solo, Gene De-
shamps; bass clarinet solo, Mar
gret McLean.
All contestants winning a first
division rating are eligible for
the regional contest held at Ta
coma May 16 and 17.
A Boys’ Glee club was started
after several years’ absence and
this semester has an enrollment
of 47. They are going to the
contest with high hopes of win
ning a first division rating. Mr.
Wade hopes to take the band to
Tacoma this year, if they win a
first rating in the district con
test.
It should be a thriller. The Lions
have come up in the league to
first place arid the O. C. team has
dropped frpm high ratting to
lower running.
The Lions have lost their first
game with the Pioneers and if
the lose this game that will give
O. C. a charice to the state tour
nament if they beat the Molalla
team. Nobody knows how the
game Friday night will come out
but if the Lions win they will
have to play them again, be
cause it is the better of two out
of three games. The way the
Lions havee been going the last
part of the season they should
have a good chance to win.
It should be a good race bet
tween Ernie Gettel of O. C., who
is leading No Name league for
high^ score, and Hoss Herndon
who is leading the Lions.
W. L. will probably be short of
Donovan because he is out with
the measles at the present time.
Donovan is a good defensive man
and also good on offense when
he really want to start hitting
the basket. Buckles of -the “B”
squad is also out.
The first game is scheduled to
start at 7:15 p. m.
Lineups: West Linn—forwards,
Herndon and Webster; center,
McLaughlin; guards, Merkle and
Elliott. Oregon City—forwards,
Gettel and Holmes; center, Bee- <
vans; guards, Jordan and Lavier.
