Wrestling Team
Beats St. Helens

Wrestling very hard and suc
cessfully the West Linn Grapplers
defeated the St. Helen team by
a majority 29 to 11. The meet
was held Thursday evening, Jan
uary 30th at the West Linn gym
nasium. The St. Helen team came
to the meet classified as a very
tough team. The matches were:
104 lb., Vinson lost fall to Lar
son, 113; 121 Ferrell lost fall to
Anicker, 122; 128 Etchison won
fall from Messenger, 120; 130 L.
Ream won fall from Cole, 131;
126, Thorton won fall from Mc
Cutcheon, 132; 132 Stockton won
fall from Anderson, 134; 133 B.
Reed and Winklemen, 134, draw;
147, J. Reed won fall from Booth,
153; 156, Critchfield decisioned
over Ryle, 154. In the Exhibition
matches, 165, Ueland won fall
from Young, 170; 145 Woodworth
decisioned over Murray, 148; 135
Wishart decisioned over J. Ream,
135 pounds.
Thè next wrestling meet will
be held Tuesday evening, Feb
ruary 4, at Newberg.

Spring promises to be a suc
cessful season in the athletic ac
tivities of West Linn high school.
All of the coaches say that they
have excellent material to work
on this year.
In baseball, there are four let
termen back from last year: Hol
lenbeck and Herndon—infield;
Williams—pitcher and Schmidt—
outfield. Others who have indi
cated tlieir intention of coming

out are McLaughlin, Baisch,
Wolfe, Eden, Pederbaugh, Gass-
ner, Peterson, Fuson and Barthel-

of last year will also come out.
Another prospect is Bob Baker a
transfer from Eugene.
Mr. Brown urges ahy under
classmen who have ability to
come out and make the team.
In the track department, ac
cording to Coach Fors, the out
look is pretty bright, but, quoting
Coach Fors, “There is many a
slip between the lip and the
cup.”
Mr, Fors said that in the ten
years he has been here, it is the
first time that he has had suf
ficient material, also there is at
least, one letterman in each
event.
Prospects for the differenct
events are as follows: One-hun-
dred yard dash, Elliot — letter-
man, participant in state meet
last year—Wolfe and Baily—new
men; two-twenty, Elliot and
Swan—letterman—Bailey — new
man; four-forty, Campbell, Swan,
and Critchfield — lettermen —
