Jamboree Finals Led by Chick Elliot and Bob Holds Meet
West Linn’s basketball team
reached the finals of the Tuala
tin-Yamhill Valley conference
jamboree at Newberg last Fri
day night only to be turned back
by the Forest Grove team by a
score of 15-11.
The Lions’ first opponent was
the Hillsboro squad, which West
Linn defeated 15-9 after a hard-
fought first half. In the semi
finals Coach Brown’s team met
Newberg, which had drawn a
bye in the first round. The West
Linn boys seemed to get the
jump on Newburg at the first of
the game, and were well ahead
all the way.
In the first round the other
teams played as follows: Tigard
defeated Beaverton, and Forest
Grove romped to an easy victory
over Sherwood. In the semi-fin
als Forest Grove really hit their
Stride and swamped Tigard
hopelessly, by the score, 12-6.
In the championship play-off
Forest Grove met West Linn, and
quickly got away to an overpow
ering lead. The game, despite the
score of 15-11, was Forest Grove
all the way, with West Linn
never threatening after the first
minutes of play.

Donovan, high scorers for West
Linn in the game, the West Linn
basketball squad won an easy
victory over the Beaverton hoop-
sters at Beaverton last Tuesday,
to the tune of 34-19.
West Linn took the lead in the
first five minutes of the game
and kept ahead all the way.
It was the first league game of
the season for West Linn and so
the Lions are now tied for first
place in the TYV conference. Due
to West Linn’s good showing at
the Jamboree last week, the
team is expected to make a good
showing this year.
