CLUB ADVICE
Fathers Give
Son's Banquet
By GLENN CAMPBELL
On Tuesday, December 3rd, at
6:30 p. m., the rafters of West
Linn high school’s cafeteria will
resound to the pleasant sound of
men and boys enjoying what is
slated to be a gastronomical ex
travaganza. I better add in way
of explanation that next Tues
day is the date set for the Father
and Son Banquet. A banquet has
been an annual affair here at
West Linn and has 'been spon
sored by the Boys club, but this
year the dads plan to reverse the
procedure by first giving the boys
a treat and sponsoring a banquet
themselves. The father-son sup
per sponsored by the boys will be
held in the spring as usual. The
Dads club under the leadership
of Mr. Elliott and Mr. M. I. Gil-
ette have sent out invitations to
all the dads and all remains in
readiness for next Tuesday.
As far as your reporter could
find out the annual tug of war
between the dads and tfye sons
will not be held, but the pro
gram that is planned to follow
the banquet promises to be a
really enjoyable entertainment.
The boys are urged by the
Dads club to get behind the ban
quet and their dads so as to be
sure they attend, so that this
year’s Father and Son banquet
can be the most successful in
West Linn’s history.

"HOME OF GOOD MEATS"
THE
By SMOKEY ANDERSON
The success of any group, large
or small, depends on the attitude
taken by the individual person
in the group. To establish an at
titude that is helpful to all, one
must have some part in the group
and it is this need that the clubs
and. activities of West Linn high
are fulfilling.
To a freshman the student
body is his or her main object,
and as the year goes on and he
comes into contact with the
school, he finds that he has
the privilege to enter the
student body activities that
are the foundation of the demo
cratic government. The legisla
tures, the court, the cabinet, the
police force, and many others are
the opportunities, that a student
desires.
The greatest ambition of any
student is to make good in his
choosen subject. That desire en
ables him under the competent
leadership of his advisors to join
the club that is sponsored by this
subject. For instance a French

student may join the French club,
a German student the German
club and a large number of other
clubs, sponsored by the subject.
Still another group of clubs
that a student may join are the
honor clubs. Under this group
comes the Hi-Y and the Honor
society. The greatest boost that
a student can have to get in
these clubs is the fact that he js
a member, taking active part, in
as many other clubs as possible.
The music department of West
Linn offers a grand opportunity
for a musical student. The band,
heading the group, is just one of
the many fields offered by this
department.
One of the largest and most ac
tive clubs in the school is the
F. F. A. club. This club spon
sored by the Agricultural depart
ment is in a nation wide organ
ization and the West Linn chap-
WESTLINN
ter is one of those well known in
the state.
The two largest clubs in West
Linn, are the Boys club and Girls
league. The requirements that a
student must meet to be a elig
ible for membership is that they
must attend West Linn and that
the school be foremost in their
mind. These two clubs are per
haps better known than any
other in school in as much as
their work is carried on directly
with parents of all students and
it is often remarked that the
work done by he Boys club and
Girls League, is outstanding, soc
ially and educational.
