Scholarliness Newest Factor
In Year’s Point System
Competitive Program
The point system will be con
tinued this year, as it has been
very successful in the past. Pre
vious to this year, only two awards
have been given by the State Physi
cal Education Association, but now
two new awards have been added.
The first award is for any girl
who has. received fifty points. This
is a diamond of green and white
felt which contains the numeral of
the year of graduation. The second
award is a large white O with the
letters P. E. A. inside of it in green
and white. This award is given to
any girl with 100 points. The third
award, which is one of the new
ones, is for the girls who have 200
points and also are voted by a com
mittee to have shown good sports
manship in their activities. This is
a large felt O which contains the
school initials. The last award is
also a new one and is only given to
one senior girl a year. She must
have 200 points and be voted by a
committee to have shown good
sportsmanship, and to have a high
er scholastic standard than the
average of her school; she must be
considered an outstanding girl in
the school.

These radios are demonstrated at
the noon hour and at assembly
periods. The one that meets all re
quirements set forth by the stud
ents will probably be purchased.
At first the students were unde
cided whether to buy a radio or a
tennis court. Mr. Gary figured on
the price of a tennis court, and the
price was too great for this year.
The following radios have so far
been demonstrated : the new Stuart
Warner, by Margaret Thompson of
Hogg Bros, Furniture store, Oregon
City; the Edison Ldtomatic; and
Atwater Kent, demonstrated by Mr.
Turnell of Turnell Service Station,
Oswego.

paper in high school of more than
506 students, while the Eugene
Guard has offered an award for the
best paper in schools of fewer than
500. The winner of the grand award
will not be.eligible for these. Mr.
Harris Ellsworth, editor of the
News Review, donated the cup for
the best news furnished local
papers by high school students.
Trophies must be won three times
in order to become the permanent
property of a school.
The delegates from West Linn
will prepare a report of their trip
for a future meeting of the student
body.

ed Monday, December 9, by his
public-speaking class. The program
consisted of a series of readings
which were:

at 8:00 p. m., in the high school
auditorium.
Miss Edgerton, who has charge
of the style review, has chosen the
following girls for models: Mildred
Vahl, Betty Merrick, Sonora Brown,
Leslie Fisher, Josephine Zaniker,
Harlen Zivney, Delphine Hall, Zel-
ma Erickson, Malva Valire, Ellaine
Oliver, Marjorie. La Salle, Marion
Robinson, Irene Tucker, Alice Stan-
gel, Mary Strong, and Bonnibell
Littlefield.
While the girls are modeling,
selections will be sung by Roma
Confer; and Dorothy Brandt will
acompany at the piano.
