Bettm "/hteímk Laura is a graduate of Oregon State University, a member of Beta Theta Chap-' ter Alpha Kappa Alpha Soro- ity, and a volunteer worker for the Red Cross. THE OREGON MIRROR The youth and senior choirs at St. Phillips Epis copal Church on N.E. Knott St. will present a Musical Concert soon. Mr. Richard Moffett especially wrote a Cantata for the occassion. Tickets are 500 for single patrons and $1.00 for coup led patrons. Wensday April 4 1962 Pa8e 3 SEMLEITS SPO RTING GOODS and CAMERAS by Betty Jo Winters The variety of news to in take this week is notable, not only because it is interest ing but because it is a sample of what we want of our young NORMA MC KINNEY Tieing in right along with the other interesting news is Mr. and M rs. Herman McKinney, who brought birth to a handsome 7 lb. 9 oz. son, whom they named Kent. M rs. McKinney is a grad uate of Jefferson High School and carried away with her many honors which she re ceived while there. Right away in her Freshman year, Norma was elected Historian of her class. Later, she was elected “ friendliest junior g irl” . She served on several committees and was a mem ber of Zeta Social Club. Also Kent’s father, Her man, form er student at Uni versity of Oregon and bank teller at F irst National Bank has gained several honors, too. Mainly, the trophy for the most valuable foot ball player in the Shrine All-Star game in 1956. Kent also has a sister Crystal, and a brother Doyle. Quite a fortunate little fel low. LAURA WALKER A very good example of this is Mill Laura Walker. Laura was quite inspired and emotionally happy when Harold Buskrud, personnel interviewer f o r Portland Public Schools, submitted to her a contract to avail her self as a business instructor at Grant High School. Prior to this, Miss Walker was of fered other jobs in the areas of California and Eastern Oregon. On the contrary, Miss Walker accepted the position at Grant for the rea son of being near her familly. Miss Walker has been w o r k i n g since January, teaching briefhand, a short form of writing and a col lege preparatory course, to juniors and seniors. Help build the OREGON MIRROR.
