He was 82 years Tim Taylor old. A visita- tion was held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814. A second visitation was held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baker City, Oregon. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baker City, Oregon with Bishop Tim Taylor Conducting. Following the funeral service a procession will lead family and friends to Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon for the interment. A reception will follow the interment at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Multipur- pose Room. Tim was born March 23, 1935, in Baker, Oregon, three weeks premature and with the measles. He wasn’t expected to live, but his grandma got him to cry, wrapped him in a blanket and used the stove warmer as an incubator. He was the second child of Melvin Elwin and Ethel Pointer Taylor. Timmy Taylor grew up in Baker and attended the Baker schools. When he was in first grade he con- tracted polio and missed a year of school. His aunts rubbed alcohol on his limbs to keep him from being paralyzed. Tim participated in sports, including basketball and football. He was on the football team when they played their first game in Bulldog Memo- rial Stadium. Tim moved to Hermiston with his Dad to finish High School with the Hermiston Bulldogs. Taylor was nick-named “Little Goblin,” and during his time on the basketball team, Hermiston changed their mascot to the Gob- lins. Tim graduated from Hermiston High School in 1954. Taylor married Marjo- rie Jean Hale in 1955 in Hermiston. They had 5 children. Later Tim joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the couple and their family were sealed together in the Manti Utah Temple. They lived in several places including Hermiston and Lane County, and finally settled in Cove, Oregon. Tim was a mill worker for Boise Cascade in Elgin. He took a five-year hiatus to move to Las Alamitos, California, and work for McDonald-Douglas de- signing airplane windows. Tim retired from Boise Cascade after 20 years. Tim and Margie were divorced in 1982. Tim married his current wife, Marian Maxine Bird on September 17, 1988. Tim was a loving father to Marian’s four children. There was no “step” in his thinking. Tim and Marian lived in Cove, Union, La Grande and Baker City. They ran a retirement home and were loving caregivers to several patients. They also finished raising Marian’s grandchildren: Jason and Amanda Naillon. Amanda graduated from college and is living with Marian in Baker City Tim loved America and he loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing with Grandpa was a special treat and usually generated a new funny story. Grandpa loved to hike and his kids knew they were in for a long one when Grandpa would say, “It’s just one more mile.” He loved having wood heat and spent many, many hours getting wood. He had an uncanny sense of direction and could walk through the woods in the dark, directly into camp. Grandpa taught his grandkids to work and told them anything worth doing is worth doing right. Tim’s kids and grandkids were his priority, and he would attend their ball games and activities whenever he could. He was proud of each of them. Tim had a way of making everyone feel they were special to him. He loved everyone no matter what their status or situation. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and studied and lived the Gospel faith- fully. He will be greatly missed at home, at church, and in the Baker Bulldogs’ stands. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Marian. Nine children: Timothy M. Taylor (Eden Peacock) of Baker City; Les Taylor (Annette McBride) of Dardenne Prairie, MO; Melanie Fronk (Kevin) of Kingwood, TX; Mi- chelle Robarge (Kevin) of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Nathan Taylor (Stephanie Schufelt) of Vancouver, WA; Ron Naillon (Megan Ritter) of Kalkaska, MI; Jim Naillon (Trista) of Colorado; Christie Slack (Rick) of Union, Oregon, and Jay Naillon (Melanie) of Issaquah, WA. He also leaves behind thirty-five grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 half- brothers – Eddy Richard Dailey and Elton Ray Dai- ley and a sister, Catherine Clara Taylor. Memorial contributions may be made to Gray’s West & Co. at 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814 to assist the family with the final arrangement expenses.
