She was a member of
the Kappa Delta Sorority,
a member of the Lambda
Chi Sigma International
Pharmacy Fraternity for
women and a lifetime
member of the Oregon
State Alumni Association.
Charlotte was the past
president and life mem-
ber of the Soroptimist
International of Baker
County,a life member of
the Baker County Histori-
cal Society,and a member
of the Sumpter Valley
Railroad group.
Charlotte and her mother
bred, raised and trained
toy and standard poodles.
They showed many of the
poodles at the AKC con-
fi rmation and obedience
shows. She was a 4-H
leader for the Bow Wow
Barkers dog club for many
years. Charlotte always
had a great love for dogs
and owned many different
breeds of dogs during her
life. Her faithful minia-
ture Schnauzer Jasper has
brought her much joy in
the past few years.
She started her career as
a pharmacist at Glass Drug
in LaGrange and worked
there until 1961, at which
time she returned to Baker
City to work at Levine Re-
call Drug store until 1983.
She worked part time at
the Safeway pharmacy
until retiring. She was a
caregiver for her mother
for several years.
She enjoyed fl ower and
vegetable gardening and
her gardens were beauti-
ful. She liked to travel
and went to many places
including South America,
Spain, Mexico, Russia,
Germany and many loca-
tions in the United States.
Throughout her life she
shared a love for the fam-
ily ranch and farm, staying
involved by managing
the mail, hosting business
lunches, picking up parts
and helping wherever she
was needed. She enjoyed
spending time with her
family and was supportive
of the many activities in
which they were involved
in, attending many of the
events. They enjoyed her
excellent cooking. She
was a woman of strength,
kindness and grace.
She is survived by her
brother Ralph Ward (Al-
ice), nieces and nephews
Kathy Ward Crawford
(Harold), Mark Ward
(Lisa) Craig Ward (Che-
rie) Julee Ward Huston
(Cary), Karen Ward Martin
(David), and 12 grand
nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by
her father Clyde, mother
Leonora, brother Alvin and
nephew Steven.
