The Forest Service and
BLM reported that they are
expecting the “Rainbow
Family” to come to forest
land but as they don’t
publicize their destination
they are not positive at this
point exactly where that
will be.
But as the Rainbow
Family reportedly has
over 2,000 members this
will most likely be a large
gathering.
BLM also said it is work-
ing on getting a Federal
Register Notice for the
possible closing of danger-
ous roads for the Eclipse
Weekend, at which point
Malheur County Sheriff
Brian Wolfe said, “ I am
very opposed to closing off
any public lands.”
The forest service and
BLM are also concerned
about fi re safety and plan
to coordinate with private
landowners with prop-
erty adjacent to public
lands on signage for their
property lines to try and
minimize people inadver-
tently encroaching on their
property.
Meetings will be held
every month until the
Eclipse with the next one
scheduled on April 26 from
1-3 p.m. at the Baker City
Hall Council Chambers.
All interested parties are
encouraged to attend.
