For the Points to Ponder
segment, Nancy Wilson
presented an informative
and entertaining history
of the Statue of Liberty,
and of the Oregon Pioneer,
prompting applause from
the group.
This reporter had the
honor of pulling the win-
ning name for a Friendship
Fund drawing near the
end of the meeting, which
was Diane Naglee, who
received a drawstring bag,
made by Allen.

ner, which was Simmons,
who received a scented
candle.
Densley led in the
Daughters Pledge, to con-
clude the meeting.
The next meeting is
scheduled for Friday, April
14, 2017, at the Flying J
Restaurant in La Grande,
with lunch at 11 a.m., and
the meeting at noon (this
meeting location is sched-
uled every other month, as
is the Sunridge Inn).
According to DAR,
whose mission is to pro-
mote historic preservation,
education, and patriotism,
“Any woman 18 years or
older, regardless of race,
religion or ethnic back-
ground, who can prove lin-
eal descent from a patriot
of the American Revolu-
tion is eligible” to become
a member.
