Northwest Farm Credit
Services is proud to award
the Powder River Rural
Fire Protection District
in Baker City, Oregon, a
$3,000 Northwest FCS
Rural Community Grant.
“I would like to accept
this award on behalf of the
hard-working and dedicat-
ed volunteers and patrons
of the Sumpter Valley,
Powder River Rural FPD,
and the surrounding area,”
said Wes Morgan, Chief.
“We are all going to ben-
efi t in so many ways from
the improved equipment
for our Rural Fire Depart-
ment. The new Tactical
Tender Project has been a
long process and could not
have been made possible if
it were not for the gener-
ous support of Northwest
Farm Credit Services and
others.”

communities succeed. In

The two individuals in
the van, Branden Baltzell
and Holly Holler, were
questioned, and offi cers
found blood on Baltzell's
hands.
Offi cers also found
a concealed weapon on
Baltzell.
Upon further investiga-
tion it was discovered
that Baltzell did not have
a concealed weapons
permit.
Baltzell was charged
with unlawful taking
of game and carrying a
concealed weapon without
permit, and arrested.
Holler was charged and
released on site.
Violin classes available

trict in partnership with

introduction to Violin for
students in kindergarten to
fi fth grade. The program
will include three groups
outlined as K-1, 2-3, and
4-5. with 7 students per
