Dylan Isaacson, owner
of Elkhorn Embroidery,
purchased Blue Mountain
Design Works in Septem-
ber. Isaacson grew up in
Haines, graduated from
the Baker High School
ten years ago, and gradu-
ated from Eastern Oregon
University with a degree in
Business.
He and his wife, Heather,
purchased Elkhorn Em-
broidery in June and then
Blue Mountain Design
Works near the end of
September.
“Shortly after we pur-
chased Elkhorn Embroi-
dery, Jim McElroy and
I got together and he
was at the point where
he was wanting to retire
soon and get out of the
Embroidery business,”
Isaacson explained. “And,
so, we approached each
other and spoke about it
and discussed a possible
purchase there and it just
kind of unfolded from
there. It turned out to be
a good deal. Baker City
is a little bit small for two
embroidery shops and we
discussed that and we were
able to make it happen.”
Elkhorn Embroidery
began in 2007. It started as
a hobby for Bonnie Smith

it grew into a solid new
business.
According to Isaacson,
Smith’s husband is retiring
soon and she wanted to
retire, and Brinton was
not interested in doing the
business without Smith or
with a new partner.
McElroy still has his
printing business and,
according to Isaacson, is

Isaacson moved the

Blue Mountain Design
Works into his building,
bringing the two together
under the name Elkhorn

Elkhorn Embroidery
offers to embroider shirts,
