his home
in Sparta,
Oregon sur-
rounded by
his grand-
Keith
children.
Dangerfi eld
Keith was
born to Ernest and Iva
Dangerfi eld on March 2,
1926 in Arbuckle, Califor-
nia.
In 1936 his fam-
ily moved to Josephine
County, Oregon, where he
attended the Shan Creek
School and earned his di-
ploma. Shortly after gradu-
ation, he moved to Eugene,
Oregon, where he worked
as an airplane electrician
at the Civil Service for the
U.S. Department of State.
It was here that he met
his future wife Edra Anna
(Bobbie) Billings, in 1943.
They were married on Oc-
tober 9th of that same year
in Spokane, Washington.
Keith joined the United
States Army Air Corps
on April 10, 1944 in Ft.
Lewis, Washington.
He graduated Febru-
ary 27, 1945 as a radio
operator from Scott Field,
Illinois. One of the many
places he served was Har-
mon Field, Newfoundland
in 1946. He was awarded
many medals and honors
for his service in WWII
and had planned to make a
career in the military. Un-
fortunately, due to medical
reasons that he incurred in
the military, he was unable
to meet this goal and was
honorably discharged from
the U.S.A.A.C.
Once home from the War
he and Edra, and infant
Margaret Ann, whom he
had just fi rst met, started
their life together in Hill-
sboro, Oregon. They later
moved to Grants Pass,
Oregon where they raised
their three children; Mar-
garet Anne, Frances, and
Michael. He would later
work for many years as a
Master mechanic and also
performed various ser-
vices for regional logging
companies.
He also took part in the
construction of Interstate
205 – Veterans Memorial
Freeway, and the construc-
tion of a stretch of Inter-
state 84 from Portland to
The Dalles, in Oregon.
Keith was a loving hus-
band, father, and friend to
many.
He greatly appreciated
the outdoors and delighted
in the spoils of nature.
Keith enjoyed hunting
and fi shing with his son,
grandchildren, and great
grandchildren. He also
relished in teaching his
grandsons about rifl es
and gunsmithing. He also
belonged to a Ham-radio
club and held an amateur
radio license (KB7HDQ)
for many, many years.
Keith loved gardening
and canning the harvests
with his wife. He was quite
fond of music and had
learned by ear to play the
keyboard, harmonica, and
guitar. He really enjoyed
the family music get-
togethers with everyone
singing and playing instru-
ments. Keith was quite
fascinated with discovering
family history and really
enjoyed spending time
with his children research-
ing genealogical records,
and traveling.
Keith and Bobbie moved
to Sparta, Oregon on Au-
gust 2, 2005 to spend out
their days in the beauty and
solitude of Eastern Oregon,
in the southern shadows of
the Wallowa Mountains.
They were happily married
for over 69 years until her
passing.
Keith is survived by
daughter Margaret Ann and
husband Lindsey Lutman
of Grants Pass, Oregon;
son Michael Grant Dan-
gerfi eld and wife Peggy
of Roseburg Oregon; his
sisters, M. Joan Milden-
stein of Provo, Utah and
Carol Siler of Salem,
Oregon; 12 grandchildren;
28 great-grandchildren; 7
great-great-grandchildren;
numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his wife Bobbie
Dangerfi eld; brother Ervin
Dangerfi eld; daughter
Frances Smithson, and
great grandson Jonathan
King.
Keith and Bobbie were
laid to rest together in
Grants Pass, Oregon at the
Granite Hill Cemetery on
November 9, 2016.
