10 — THE BAKER COUNTY PRESS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2016 Local Fire destroys property off Campbell St. BY KERRY McQUISTEN News@TheBakerCountyPress.com A storage shed, owned by Tom Bootsma off 14th Street and Campbell, burst into flames during the night last Saturday. The fire, which started just after midnight, quickly destroyed the building, some equipment left in- side, and one vehicle. Responders from the Baker City Fire Depart- ment, Baker Rural Fire, Haines and Bowen Valley fire departments all fought the blaze throughout the night and into the next morning. A representative from the State Fire Marshall’s Office remained on site for the following two days investigating the scene due to suspicion. A renter, Jamie Joseph Submitted Photo by Brandon Davis. Fighting the fire in the middle of the night Weiss, was arrested during the firefighting efforts for interfering with firefight- ers. Weiss’s additional theft charges were unrelated to the blaze, but instead tied to previous accusations of gasoline theft.
