Local
Police bust
meth dealer
On Friday, August 19, shortly after 6 p.m., a team of
Baker City Police offi cers (full time and reserve offi cers)
concluded an ongoing narcotics investigation with the
arrest of Kristi Dejong, 43 years of age.
The arrest occurred at her residence, 1440 13th St. in
Baker City.
In addition to the arrest offi cers executed a search war-
rant and seized a quantity of methamphetamine along
with hypodermic needles, scales, and other paraphernalia
used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics.
Dejong was booked into Baker County Jail on the
charges of: Possession of Methamphetamine, Delivery of
Methamphetamine, and Conspiracy to deliver Meth.
This case is one of several recent narcotics investiga-
tions in which observations by citizens of suspicious
activity coupled with their reporting their observations to
law enforcement contributed to the development of prob-
able cause and an eventual arrest. That citizen coopera-
tion is very much appreciated.
When citizens observe brief and frequent arrivals at
locations in the city where those citizens suspect narcotics
activity is taking place it is very helpful if those citizens:
write down their observations by time and date; write
down descriptions of persons and vehicles involved;
report that information to law enforcement. Those are
precisely the steps taken by citizens in this case that led to
a successful investigation.
