CHALK IT UP TO ART
Saturday, July 23. Baker Art Guild is once again
sponsoring Chalk It Up To Art, a fun, family friendly
event that recognizes the artistic talent in our com-
munity. Local artists or interested participants will
donate their time and talent to create chalk drawings
on the sidewalks of downtown Baker City. The event
takes place Saturday, July 23th, with participants be-
ginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the
day. Residents and visitors are invited to view the
work, both in progress and fi nished, while shopping,
dining, or strolling along Main Street. Any and all
creative and interested people (any age) are invited
to participate! Businesses are invited to sponsor side-
walk squares for chalk drawings at $5 a square to
help support Baker Art Guild events. To sign up for

MEDICARE CLASS
Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Baker
County Public Library will host a free class about
Medicare. The two-hour course is provided by
expert advisors from the state offi ce of Senior
Health Insurance Benefi ts Assistance, also known
as SHIBA. Topics covered will include: - What is
Medicare? - Do I need both A&B? - Other insurance
options - Prescription drug coverage - Secondary
insurance - Financial assistance - Fraud protection -

on Saturday, June 18, 2016
at 11 a.m. A reception will
follow at the Nazarene
Family Life Center. Those

salads or desserts.
Kristi was born April 26,
1977 to Bill Harvey and
Julie Miller. She attended
Haines Elementary School,
Palmer Elementary School
and the Agape Christian
School.
She worked as a CNA
and a pharmacy tech, then
started her nursing degree
through night school while
still working. After three
years as a full time student
she graduated with a 3.98
from Eastern OR Univer-
sity and OHSU with her
Bachelor of Science degree
in nursing.
Kristi was an excep-
tional registered nurse
as was evident in the
following description of
her by a colleague: “Kristi
treats her patients with the
greatest respect. She goes
above, and beyond, to sup-
port the highest levels of
comfort and care. Kristi is
a skilled nurse who has a
special ability to approach
emergencies with calm-
ness and effi ciency that is
reassuring for the patient
and their families. She has
rapidly become a leader
and is a strong member of
the nursing team!”
Kristi loved her children,
her family and her savior,
Jesus. She also loved the
outdoors, branding, four-
wheeling, hiking, wood
cutting, mushrooming and
berry picking.
Kristi was preceded
in death by her Grandpa
Alvin Culley, great grand-
mothers, Melvina Topliff
and Phoebee Lyons,
cousins, Ryan Culley and
Danny Mann.
She is survived by her
children, Sierra, Kyler and
Austin DeVore, her father
and stepmother, Bill and
Lorrie Harvey, her mother
and stepfather, Julie and
Terry Miller, broth-
ers, Bill Harvey, Jr. and
Nathan Miller and his
wife Shoshanna, sisters,
Andrea Lucas and Nicole
Landstrom, grandmoth-
ers, Pat Culley and Nancy

Bruce is survived by

Aubry, Ariana, Alivia and
Aaron all of Roseburg OR;
his fi ancé’ Audrey Slavich
of Baker City, his nieces

David Attwater of Rancho
Cucamonga, California.
Bruce loved to travel. He
took his three children on
cross country vacations to
Florida, to the beaches of
Hawaii, to Canada, and to
Mexico. Capturing many
great moments on fi lm. He
recently taught his grand-
children to play checkers
and card games. Bruce will
be greatly missed by his
family and many friends.

19,1943. She loved to
bowl & go to the sprint car
races. Her favorite holiday
was Thanksgiving because
she loved to cook, but
her greatest passion was
spending her time with
family.
Bev had a “heart of
gold.” She took care of her
family and helped every-
one no matter who or what
circumstance they were
in. A favorite memory of
something she did “was to
feed a homeless man who
was digging in the garbage
for food.”
