At Sherry’s request there Sherry Sue will be no Sheridan service. Sherry Sue was born to parents Richard “Dick” and Susan Schroeder on March 3, 1945 in Portland Oregon. She was raised in South-east Portland. Dur- ing her elementary years, she attended Gilbert Grade school and graduated from David Douglas High school in 1963. Sherry Sue lived in Vancouver Washington and Sandy Oregon, but found her true home to be Halfway, Oregon in 1980. Sherry Sue worked at Fred Meyers in manage- ment, and was a truck driv- er for Stauffer Chemicals gold mine. She did the gold clean-up and books for Highland Minerals in Halfway and was a bar- tender for a time. While she working for Highland Minerals, the company was looking to hire an operator at the Goldmine. “I’d heard Steve Sheridan was in town and could do the job, so we hired him.” Sherry Sue and Steve fell in love and were married December 11, 1990. “He was a wonderful man to grow old with.” Sherry Sue enjoyed fi shing, the snowfall in the mountains and in the trees, she loved all the seasons, LOVED the color red and spending time with her kids when she could. She loved her home, the yard fl owers, sewing, going on rides to see wild life, mo- saics and her beloved dog “Judy.” “I love my people and have such very good friends. “I loved living in Halfway.” Her most memorable moments in her life where when her children were born, living in Halfway and she added “talking with my brother while we drank whiskey and red wine.” I would like to be remembered in that “I’ve loved life.” She was preceded in death by her husband Steve, daughter Susan Marlow, father Dick Schroeder, brother Tom Schroeder, sister Melody Dolan and her dearest friend and best company Judy. Sherry Sue is survived by her sons Michael Mar- low and Richard Scheck; Step- Daughter Kandace Sheridan; Grandchildren Amanda, Michael and Alicia, Brycen, Adam and Noah; Great Grandchildren Emma Jean, Nicholas, Kyla. Sherry’s favorite poem was “When I grow old, I shall wear purple.” An excerpt from that poem reads; When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves. And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells. And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobri- ety of my youth. I shall go out in my slip- pers in the rain And pick fl owers in other people’s gardens And learn to spit. But maybe I ought to prac- tice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised. When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple. Sherry Sue has left us all with fond, interesting, fun, laughable, routine, dif- ferent, kindred, memories of which we shall fondly remember. Those who wish to make a memorial dona- tion in memory of Sherry Sue, may do so to the charity of their choice, through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home & Crema- tion Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834.
