A visitation was held Monday May 23, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gray’s West and Company Pioneer Cha- pel at 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, Oregon. A funeral service was held on May 24, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church in Baker City, Oregon at 11:00 a.m. Helen was born in Baker, Oregon on February 15, 1928 to Marjorie Roxanne (McConnell) Sipp and William Charles Sipp. She attended high school at the Baker High School, graduating in 1947. Helen received training through Pacifi c Northwest Bell and worked for 20 years as a telephone operator. She also worked as a home health secretary for St. Elizabeth Hospital. On March 4, 1950, Helen married Joseph Harold Wirth Jr. in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They were mar- ried 42 years before his passing on December 11, 1992. Reading, music, camp- ing, working on cross- word puzzles, visiting with friends, and loving animals are a few of the things Helen enjoyed. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Lydia Circle, VFW Auxiliary, and various clubs during her time in high school. She had many accomplish- ments through her life but her proudest accomplish- ments were raising her three children, spending time with her two grand- children, and rescuing and adopting numerous animals. Helen is survived by her daughter Linda Wirth Haynes of Baker City, Oregon, daughter Christie Wirth Zerfi ng of Garibaldi, Oregon, son Karl Wirth of Baker City, Oregon, grand- son Adam Wirth of Baker City, Oregon, granddaugh- ter Victoria Wirth Tarter of St. George, Utah. Billee was born October 31, 1921 in the fi rst log house (two room) ever built in the valley, located in the lower end of the valley. She was the granddaughter of the Oliver family who were original homesteaders in 1878. Her mother Gladys and father Bert Huff were rugged pioneers. She was the youngest of fi ve children and she grew up running the hills and the Hooker Flat ranch, bare- footed and free. Billee married Wm. ( Bill ) Joseph and they worked in the ship yards in Portland during the second world war. Billee was a welder. She and Bill had four children; Allen, Denise, Keith and Paul. She later married Warren Epps and had a daughter, Edrie. With the passing of Warren she married Robert Howard. On the passing of Robert, Billee lived alone for many years. Billee loved to dance and was an avid reader. She was a great quilt- maker and spent many years making custom rodeo shirts, for cowboys. She liked to garden and was always busy. In the 1980s Billee bought the tavern now know as “Wild Bills’ and turned it into a full-service restaurant and bar. She worked hard to remodel, built the bar addition and managed to get the fi rst liquor license issued in eastern Oregon, in 17 years. She called it ‘Billee.” She loved the business, the music and fun but most of all the people. Many years were spent with Billee managing the Pine Valley Fair. She raised the money to buy the picnic tables, we still use today and to pour the concrete fl oor in the exhibit hall that was still dirt and sawdust. She was very proud of the fair and the community. Billee is survived by four of her children, eight grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She is greatly missed but she told us all, she was ready to go. A Graveside Memo- rial Service will be held at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon on Satur- day, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family for a recep- tion to be held immediately following at the home of her sister Grace Gu- lick. Geralean loved the aunt Mabel Geralean that she was Sneddon named after, but preferred to go by her middle name. East of the Cascades she is known as Geralean and on the west side “Gerry.” Geralean was born to A.Niles Sr. and Emma M. Goodwin at home in Cornucopia, Oregon on July 13, 1935. the youngest daughter of 5 children. The fam- ily later moved to the Jim Town area of Pine Valley, where she attended the Jimtown school through the 8th grade. She attended high school at Pine Valley Union High School in Halfway, Oregon, Where she picked out her future husband. The family moved to the ranch above Jimtown and in the 1940’s purchased the Endrupp sawmill that became the Goodwin sawmill on what is now called “Goodwin Sawmill Lane”. Geralean became the last of the Goodwin girls to deliver wood in the “29” Chevrolet wood truck delivering slab wood around the valley. She had one music les- son at the age of six, taught herself to read & transpose music, played for church at the Halfway Christian Church at the age of 13. In later years, she acquired several pianos, much to the chagrin of her husband and sons. Her aunt, Jessiemae Martin left her Hammond organ to Geralean when she passed, Geralean played organ for Reedsport Christian church, as well as for many funerals and weddings. She married Blair Sneddon on July 7, 1953 at “Baker” Oregon, they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anni- versary in July of this year. The Sneddons moved from Baker County to Florence, in October of 1955. Moving to Reed- sport, Oregon in 1985 and back to Florence in October of 2016. Over the years she worked in retail and as a restaurant hostess, at the same time, acting as the dispatcher for Blair’s Appliance Parts and Service in Florence, as well as working in the family’s coin laundry.
