Jadene “Skeeter”
Proffi tt
On August 2, 1971,
Skeeter wed her husband
Loren Profi tt whom she
had met while still in
school. Together they had
two Sons.
Skeeter moved to back
to Baker in 1972 and has
lived here ever since. Skee-
ter worked in construction
until a neck injury pre-
vented her from continu-
ing in that fi eld. She later
worked as a dietary aid at
St. Elizabeth Hospital in
Baker City, until her injury
required surgery.
As a child, Skeeter en-
joyed riding horses on the
family ranch. She loved
summer and camping with
her own family but always
said that her favorite time
in her life was when she
became a grandmother.
Skeeter will be remem-
bered for always making
people smile. She had an
infectious laugh, always
had an ear to listen and a
huge heart.
She was preceded in
death by parents Grace and
John Profi tt; Buford and
Mildred Kennison; Sister
Alberta Lee Dixon
Jadene "Skeeter" is
survived by her Sons Chad
Laverne Profi tt of Salem,
Oregon, and Nick Profi tt
of Baker City, Oregon;
Grandchildren Logan
Owen Profi tt of North
Powder, and Hunter Gage
Profi tt of Baker City;
Brothers Stan and wife

Carolina, Steve Scott Ken-
nison of Richland, Oregon.

sus Medical
Center in
Baker City.

Marsha was born on May
5, 1944 to Vernon D. and
Juanita (Lockwood)
Richards in McMinnville,
Oregon. She worked as an
administrative assistant
for the Federal Bureau of
Investigation for 18 years
until her retirement in
2006. On November 13th
of 2001 she married Rich-
ard T. Hollriegel in
Portland, Oregon.
Survivors include her
husband Richard of Sumpt-
er, a daughter Tami J.
Richards of Fairview,
Oregon, a grandson Joel R.
Teixeira of Baker City and
a granddaughter Tianna
E. Teixeira of Fairview,
Oregon.

Auxiliary to hold book fair
Saint Alphonsus Aux-
iliary- Baker City will be
holding their annual book
fair Thursday May 20th
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The book fair will be
located in the hospital
breezeway. There will be a
wide selection of books as
well as other gifts at 40%
to 70% off retail pricing.
Come and bring a friend.
Proceeds will go to benefi t
Saint Alphonsus Medical
Center – Baker City and
our Auxiliary Scholarship
Fund for students seeking a
career in the medical fi eld.

Community women’s event
to feature author
Internationally acclaimed
and New York Times best-
selling author, Francine
Rivers, will be in Baker
City on Tuesday evening,
May 24th, for “An Evening
with Francine Rivers!”
The evening is this
year’s women’s spring
community-wide event.
It will include an author
meet and greet, book sign-
ings by Francine, and a
program featuring music
and the opportunity to hear
from Francine.
A band with musicians
from across our commu-
nity will provide music,
followed by a special
interview with Francine.
The
Audience members will
have the opportunity to ask
questions, as well.
The event starts at 6
p.m. for meet and greet,
book signings, and the
opportunity to connect
with women across eastern
Oregon.
Betty’s Books will have
selected books by Francine
available for purchase.
Refreshments will also
be provided. 7 p.m. to
8:30 p.m. is the program
featuring music, interview,
and special messages.
Additional book signings
and social time will follow.
