On May 6th the Baker Food Co-op is celebrating
40 years supplying wholesome natural foods and
products to the people of Baker County and north-
eastern Oregon. On May 6 the members, staff and
Board of Directors are inviting the community to
a 40th Anniversary Open House and Tasting Fair

POWDER RIVER FRIENDS OF NRA

Charlton S. (Charlie) Tobler (son of
Jeff & Karen Tobler of St. Clair, MO)
and Marta K. Andersen (daughter of
Arvid & Mary Andersen, and grand-
daughter of Barbara Prowell, all of
Baker City, OR) were married on
March 26, 2016 at the Calvary Baptist
Church in Baker City. The 6 brides-
maids wore 6 different colored jewel-
toned dresses with the 6 groomsmen
wearing matching ties; and the bride
wore white to symbolize the com-
mitment she and the bridegroom
had made to remain sexually pure
until their wedding day in honor and
obedience to their Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
The 4 siblings of the couple (Erik,
Lydia, and Annika Andersen; Chris-
tian Tobler) as well as friends served
as attendants. The best man was
Charlie’s grandfather, Bob Tobler, and
the maid of honor was Marta’s long-
time friend Tagg Wood. The other
attendants were Greg Darby, Dan
Jaeger, Zachary Halbert, Bri Jaeger
(who introduced the bride to the
groom), Morgan Anderson, and Lynn
Flucke (all from MO). The candlelight-
ers were Wesley Halbert (MO) and
Sam Preuit
(Baker).

The newlyweds were driven by
Ron Colton in his carriage from
the church to their reception at the
Baker Co. Event Center, where they
shared food, fellowship, a slide-show,
music (guitar and singing by Charlie),
and dancing with their guests. The
5-layer wedding cake, complete with
decorative fondant and fl owers, had
been hand-crafted by the bride (and
her helpers) in 3 phases. Before the
couple departed, they had special
photos taken by the photographer

After honeymooning in Florida,
they will make their home in MO –
where they met, and where Charlie
went to farrier school and Marta
graduated from college in December
2015 with a degree in Equine Sci-
ence and Administration. Along with
both working in the horse industry,
they also have a computer website
design business, OmniCreative.com.

11am, Luncheon to follow.

were conducted at Gray’s
West & Company Pioneer
Chapel.
Michael was born on
September 6, 1987 at St.
Elizabeth Hospital, Baker
City Oregon to Delbert and
Carol Linscott. He grew
up going to the Assembly
of God Church with his
family.
Michael lived most of
his life in Baker City; he
attended the Baker City
Christian School along
with his siblings, cousins,
and many friends. The
family moved to Idaho for
a while, then coming back
to Baker City, where he
enjoyed fi shing with his
brothers and family camp-
ing trips.
Michael enjoyed Sunday
afternoon family days
when the family would all
load up after church with
friends and head to the
A&W for lunch, root beer
fl oats and lots of laughter,
returning home to watch
movies or playing games,
while dad would fall asleep
in the chair and mom
watching the kids play.
Michael was very talent-
ed at making techno music
on his dj system on his
computer and spent hours
making it sound just right.
He was hoping to make his
music for some new video
games. His greatest love
was his family and friends.
His nieces and nephews
were one of his biggest
joys!
Through his struggles, he
clung to the love and sav-
ing grace of Jesus Christ.

Lutz Juergen Kethler
Baker City, 1936-2016
Lutz Juergen Kethler
was born
and raised in
the town of
Braunlage
- which lies
within the
Harz moun-
tain range
Lutz
Kethler
in Lower
Saxony, Ger-
many. During this period
of his life, Lutz honed his
athletic ability and compet-
itive personality to become
a champion ski jumper and
tennis player.
In 1955 Lutz made the
journey to Ellis Island to
pursue his life-long dream
of becoming a U.S. Citi-
zen. During his lifetime,
he served in both the U.S.
Air Force as well as Army
National Guard.
In 1962 he was accepted
to UC Davis, where he
played tennis and in 1966
earned his Bachelors of
Science degree – Majoring
in Biology. After teach-
ing high school science
for nearly a decade, he
changed careers and in
1977 earned his Doctor
of Veterinary Medicine
degree from WSU College
of Veterinary Medicine.
Always up for an adven-
ture, Lutz’s enthusiasm
for volunteering, exotic
animals, veterinary medi-
cine and travel took him
to multiple continents for
various wildlife research
projects.
Lutz’s passions in-
cluded: his trees, watching
movies, the opera, pastries
and always being on-the-
go. The happiest times
were when he was with
his daughters and many
friends he made throughout
his very full life. DaDa,
your love will be in our
hearts & minds forever.
He had a heart of gold
and will live on through all
that knew him. Those who
