Gordon Duane Abram
Richland, 1959-2015
Gordon Duane Abram
passed away in the eve-
ning of July 22, 2015. A
celebration of life was
scheduled for Tuesday,
August 4th at 9:30 a.m. at
the Baker City Christian
Church with Pastor Jesse
Whitford offi ciating.
Gordon was born
in Portland, Oregon on
April 12, 1959. He spent
most of his life in Salem,
Oregon then moved back
to Portland in his later
years. There he resided
with Bethesda Lutheran
Communities. He came
to work and reside with
Step Forward Activities in
Baker City Oregon in the
fall of 2012. Gordon had
become well loved and
respected by his peers and
staff.
Gordon faced a lifetime
of great challenges due to
his many health problems.
Though he was non-verbal
he had a way of letting us
know his likes and dis-
likes; either by sign, facial
expression or his unique
voice infl ection. He had a
smile that would melt our
hearts.
Gordon loved coffee
and tea!!! He spent many
hours at the dining room
table enjoying the aromas
from his beverages and
from the good food cook-
ing in the kitchen. He
so enjoyed a good meal,
especially if it involved
mashed potatoes and
gravy! He had a strong
olfactory sense and spent a
great many hours enjoying
the aromas of his many
scented candles, soaps,
lotions and other “smell
good” items. He especially
loved the scents of coffee,
cinnamon and roses.
Gordon also loved music.
He enjoyed most genres
though often listened to
country, but had a special
affi nity for classic rock.
He would often “bop”
his head and lean into the
radio when he heard a song
he particularly liked.
We will remember
Gordon for his sweet and
gentle nature, his beautiful
smile his sense of humor
and his ability to endure
and self advocate despite
the challenges he faced in
his life.
Memorial contribu-
tions may be made in his
memory through Gray’s
West & Company Pioneer
Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave.,
T he family of James Lloyd
Rea, Jr. wish to express their
deep appreciation to those who
have offered such kindness,

phone calls and memorial
contributions were deeply
appreciated.

Donald “Pat” Paterson
New Bridge, 1931-2015
Donald
“Pat” Pat-
erson, Sr.,
died on July
8, 2015,
in Keizer,
Oregon. A
Pat
Celebraton
Paterson
of Pat’s Life
& Memorial Service with
Military Honors will be
held on Saturday, August
8, 2015 - 11:00 a.m., at
the New Bridge Nazarene
Church in New Bridge.
Friends are invited to
join the family for a pot-
luck reception at the New
Bridge Grange immediate-
ly following the service.
Pat was born on March
27, 1931, in Kearny, New
Jersey, to Robert and Mar-
ion (Glynn) Paterson. He
graduated from Lancaster
Academy, Lancaster, New
Hampshire, in June 1949.
Pat served with the
U. S. Army in the Medi-
cal Corps, enlisting right
out of high school, and
received an honorable
discharge on January 20,
1953.
When returning to civil-
ian life, Pat went to work
for Garrett AiResearch,
where he worked for 28
years.
After those years in
California, Pat moved to
Salem, Oregon. He had ac-
quired his realtor’s license
while in California, and de-
cided that he would expand
on that. He sold properties
in Oregon and California,
and was the fi rst in the
State of Oregon to open up
a business called Help-U-
Sell Real Estate.
Pat and Marta met in
2009, when Pat was visit-
ing his son for Christmas.
The two married at the
Church of the Nazarene on
April 12, 2013. Pat shared
on many occasions that his
life became whole the day
he met Martie.
Pat enjoyed fi shing,
hunting, traveling, and
people. He spent a lot of
time in Costa Rica, and
his passport is stamped at
least 20 times for his trips
there. One of Pat’s favorite
sayings was, “There are
two kinds of people in this
world - givers and takers.”
He would most want to
be remembered for show-
ing all his card tricks and
making people laugh. And
also that he created happi-
ness for everyone he met.
That was his giving way.
Pat is survived by his
wife Martie; daughter
Donna Marie Dugan of Sil-
verton Oregon; son Donald
