Man leads police on chase
CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1
According to Baker City
Police Chief Wyn Lohner,
at about 3:30 p.m. Baker
City Police Offi cers initiat-
ed a traffi c stop on a 1997
Dodge Pickup near the in-
tersection of 4th Street and
Virginia Ave. The driver
of the vehicle, Damon
Robinson, age 41, was
suspected of being a Felon
in Possession of a Firearm.
He is listed online as a
registered sex offender. His
past includes assault and
burglary convictions.
Robinson’s vehicle tem-
porarily yielded and then
accelerated away from
offi cers.
Three Baker City Police
units pursued Robinson’s
vehicle out of the city and
up Old Auburn Highway.
Two Oregon State
Police units and four
Baker County Sheriff’s
units joined in the pursuit,
which wound its way up to
Marble Creek pass where
the vehicles could go no
further.
An Oregon State Police
fi xed wing aircraft also as-
sisted with the pursuit.
At the pass the subject
was engaged by multiple
offi cers, but again failed to
obey orders and acceler-
ated away, this time off the
road and west down the
drainage where his vehicle
became inoperable.
Robinson was believed
to have fl ed the vehicle
on foot; however terrain
and weather conditions
prevented offi cers from
approaching the vehicle.
Scanner traffi c showed that
police were able to see the
bed of the pickup, but not
the inside clearly.
At 5:24 p.m., as snow
continued falling in a thun-
der and lightning storm,
offi cers terminated their at-
tempts to locate Robinson.
Reverse 911 sent calls to
citizens in the area warn-
ing residents to be on the
lookout and keep houses
and vehicles locked.
The next day, Robinson
was taken into custody.
On May 13, 2015 at
about noon, a Baker
County citizen called 911
to report he had seen the
suspect from the vehicle
pursuit the previous day,
Damon Robinson, in the
Deems Loop area off of
Highway 7.
Numerous units from
the Baker County Sheriff’s
Offi ce, Baker City Police
Department and Oregon
State Police responded to
the area, along with the
Northeast Oregon Regional
SWAT team. A search
began in the area Robinson
was reportedly last seen.
At about 1 p.m., the citi-
zen called back to report
he had the suspect “at gun-
point,” near Mowich Loop.

be lodged on multiple
charges.
Multiple search warrants
are pending and the inves-

medical staff.
On May 11th, 2015,
the Oregon State Medical

• I’m hoping this can
get around to the right
person. But I lost my
I.D. and I have been
searching for it— and
today I received it in
the mail. The envelope
did not have a return
address but I’m hoping
people could share this
and hopefully they have
Facebook and it could
get to them. But I just
wanted to say thank you
very much for taking
the time and sending it
to me. I very much ap-
preciate it.
