Julian Al-
berto De La
Torre, 57, of
Baker City,
died Janu-
ary 11, 2015
at his home
surrounded
Julian
by his family. De La Torre
In the final
days of his life, he was
comforted to know he was
surrounded by his wife,
children, grandchildren,
father-in-law, brother-in-
law, and sisters Stella and
Margie.
There was a Celebration
of Life Potluck for friends
and family in Baker City at
the Christian Church 675
Highway 7, on Saturday,
January 17, at 1 p.m.
A Memorial service for
Julian will be held in Gon-
zales California on Febru-
ary 20, 2015 ~ 2:00 p.m.
at St Theodore’s church
120 First St. in Gonzales,
California followed by
graveside service. Friends
will be invited to join the
family for a reception and
celebration of Julian’s life
following the interment
at the St. Theodore Parish
hall.
For many of us there
will be a big empty space
in our hearts that can never
be filled and we will miss
you dearly. His primary
caregiver, his loving and
dedicated wife, Sonya,
never left his side.
Julian Alberto was born
in Salinas, California on
June 19, 1957 to Alberto
De La Torre “Shorty”
and Hortencia (Salas)
“Tenchie.” He was raised
in Gonzales, California
where he attended Gon-
zales high and was on the
Spartan football team.
During his football season
every Friday before his
game his mother and
sisters would have to
make homemade burritos
for his football team, but
unknown to them Julian
would sell the burritos to
his teammates and keep all
the money for himself even
though his mom and sisters
did all the work. But it was
still ok with his mom that
he kept the money even
though his sisters were not
too happy about it. He also
was a trumpet player in the
junior high he attended in
Gonzales.
Julian and Sonya Mae
McLeod were married on
March 31, 1994 in Salinas
California. They met one
night in a club singing
Karaoke. Sonya looked
over and saw such a hand-
some man sitting there, at
first she thought it might
be Billy Ray Cyrus, they
meet that night and spent
21 years together and had
three beautiful children
Devin Scott McLeod,
Tonya Rosario De La
Torre, and Julianna Eliza-
beth De La Torre.
Julian worked in the
fields his teenage years
and after graduating high
school he became a Fore-
man for Oshita Produce
in Gonzales, California.
After working for Oshita
Produce Julian became a
supervisor for the local
high school and then be-
came a Teacher Assistant.
Years later Julian became
a delivery driver of C&J
automotive in Salinas,
California.
Julian enjoyed spending
his time on the baseball
field playing for various
baseball/softball teams.
He always loved football
weather it was playing
a game with the boys or
watching it on TV, espe-
cially if the Bears were
playing because you all
know what bears fanatic
he was. In Julian’s younger
years, he spent his time
playing in the local neigh-
borhood band with Jimmy
Garcia, Mike Valentine,
Sugar Bear, and all the
boys. Julian also loved
spending his time with
his family watching his
kids playing sports or just
sitting together watching a
movie.
Julian lived in Gonzales
California until his adult
years and then moved to
Salinas California where
he resided for many years.
In 2003, they relocated
the family to Baker City
Oregon.
He was preceded in
death by his Mother
Tenchie; Father Alberto;
Mother-in-law Judy; Cous-
ins Manuel, Willie, and
David.
Julian is survived by
his wife Sonya; son Devin
Scott McLeod and his wife
Sabrina; daughters Tonya
Rosario De La Torre and
Julianna Elizabeth De La
Torre all of Baker City,
Oregon. His grandchil-
dren Makayla Amy Faith
McLeod, Dominique
Nadine McLeod, Devin
Scott McLeod Jr.; sisters
Stella Jessie(De La Torre)
Antopia and husband, Jose
Luis and Margie Campos;
brothers Joe Phillip De
La Torre, Pete Edwardo
De La Torre and his wife
Virgie. Nineteen nieces
and nephews, to numerous,
cousins. Thank you to all
of them for all their love
and support.
The family expresses its
appreciation to Stepha-
nie Luna, Sandra Emery,

bers, and all our friends

last requests because we
could not have done with-
out all of you.

like to make a memorial
donation in memory of Ju-

Vault Internment in the
Eagle Valley Cemetery in
Richland, Oregon next to
her husband Sid and son
Jim. Friends are invited to
join the family for a pot-
luck reception to be held
immediately following the
interment.
Bethel was born in Star,
Idaho to Myrtle Emma
McCurdy Frasier and
George Vivian Frasier. Her
father died of the flu when
she was only 3 years old.
Her mother (“Grammie” as
she was known to all later
in life) after several years
married George Stanton
who then became Bethel’s
father. Bethel mostly grew
up on Monroe Creek out of
Weiser, Idaho graduating
from Weiser High School
in 1936. Through George’s
family ties she met Sidney
(Sid) Robinson who was
George’s great nephew
and they were married in
1937. Sid lived in Pondosa,
Oregon where they lived in
a tent frame above Medical
Springs for the first year of
marriage. They bought a
small place at Bobcat Bar
on Big Creek living there
for a few years until mov-
ing into Pondosa and living
there until it closed in
1959. After Pondosa they
moved to Edmonton, Al-
berta then Vancouver, B.C.
until Sid passed away in
1990. Bethel then moved
to Eagle Valley in 1991 liv-
ing there until moving into
Baker several years ago.
They had two sons Ron
born in 1941 and Jim
(deceased) born in 1946.
The sons were fortunate
to have such great parents
as Bethel and Sid and
growing up in Pondosa. Of
course the great outdoors
was an important part of
their lives and continues to
this day. Bethel was also
preceded by her parents
and three sisters Helen
Fogerson, Faye Randall,
and Cleo Johnson.
Eagle Valley was always
a special place for Bethel
with the Randall’s and
many trips over from
Pondosa during those
years. That didn’t end once
they moved to Canada.
She always had time for
Eagle Valley and visiting
Cleo and her family in
and around Payette, Idaho.
Bethel and Cleo made
many fun filled trips to
Springfield visiting her son
Ron and family after his
retirement.
A fun loving, strong,
family oriented lady she
had a great life. Always
wanting to be in the middle
of any “fun” and often
the instigator. She loved
to travel and took many
cruises, trips to Australia/
New Zealand, and Europe
in later years. Cards were a
passion all her life, which
she got from Grammie
who taught most of her
grandchildren and anyone
interested how to play
pinochle.
