The Christmas entertainment given
at the Congregational church last Sat
urday evening was a very pleasant event
and attended by a full house. ' The
progam was well rendered and quite in
teresting, some of the parts being wor
thy of especial mention. The tree was
well ladened with presents, the distri
bution of which undoubtedly brought
much gladness to the recipients, especi
ally the younger portion. The several
missives from Santa Claus and his later
appearance were much in evidence in
producing great enthusiasm among the
little folks. The. very large number
present unable to secure seata was a
forcible argument in favor of a larger
place being built in our town to accom
modate public gatherings of a similar
nature.
? The M. E. Christmas tree and enter
tainment held at the church Christmas
night was an occasion of much en joyment
to those attending, and especially to the
large number of children that were
present. An appropriate and very in
teresting program was , rendered and
thoroughly appreciated. . The claBS ex
ercises of the little ones were good, as
Was also the music both by the. choir
and others who participated. ; A duet
by Miss Lillian Shuts" and Miss Statie
Montgomery, and a solo by Miss Vera
Jackson are deserving of Bpecial men
tion. The tree and evergreen decora
tions presented a very pleasing appear
ance and the presents were quite num
erous. An effort was made to give all
members of the school a sack of nuts
and candy, together with all the other
children who were present, and if there
was failure in this respect it was wholly
unintentional. Altogether it was an
occasion that will be pleasantly remem
bered by all who. were present. '" ;

as a lodge room and the lower story to
be rented, the proceeds to be used for
the benefit of the lodge. The board of

The present is an appropriate time for
making good resolutions; Look back
over the closing year; note where you
have erred and resolve for the future to
do so no more.' If you haven't been liv
