The University, of - Oregon baseball

games of a four-game series will : be
played, one in the morning and one in
the afternoon. Captain Hurd, though
on the sick list, will pitch one of the
games for the Varsity, and Henkle the
other. Coach Kelly expects Oregon to
Win both games, and is hoping that the
batting slump, from which the team
has been suffering since the Northern
trip, is all over, but. Captain Moore is
confident that it will at least be an even

County Will Save Money
The provisions of the new bounty law
practically eliminates this item of ex
pense to nearly every county in the Wil
lamette Valley. Under the old law the
party making application for bounty
was simply required to produce the head
and the county lerk punched the ear
and afterward burned the relic' The
applicant took ' his bounty money and
then sold the hide. ' Uuder the new law
the party ' applying for bounty will be
required to produce the entire skin of
the animal, which skin must inclnde all
four paws, the tail and the skin: of the
entire head iricluding the ears : and eye
holes and the' skin- to the tip of the
nose. This mustbe'left with the county
clerk, and afterward.be burned by that
officer. It is. readily, seen 'that ii' the
skin, of .the animal is worth twice as
much as the bounty offered 'there will
be no claims j made. This . county has
perhaps paid out- $100 or more"' during
the past year for this purpose. 5,. : t v
