The thirty-fifth annual cu
vention of the Oregon State
Grange met Tuesday in Mc-
Minnville. The announcement
recalls the early meetiugs of this
body and the names of many
honored men and women who
did their day's work earnestly
and iaitniully and passed on.
An important factor in the social
and industrial life of the farmer
folk of the state has been this
organization all along the years
Its efforts in the financial bet
terment of the agricultural class
have not always met fruition
However, they have been earn
est and sincere. They have
caused farmers to think for
themselves, read for themselves,
send their sons and daughters to
the State Agricultural College,
plan and make agricultural ex
hibits, patronize farmers' insti
tutes, take a stand for good
roads, recognize woman's part
in agricultural development and,
in a multitude 01 other ways,
have left the impress of organiz
ed power upon the intelligence
and growth of a generation. As
far as the work of the present
session has been outlined it will
be along lines similar to those
above enumerated. That the
meeting has been interesting
and profitable cannot be doubt
ed. Oregoniau.
