Gym Prep Nears End; Soon To Open
Buzzing saws and towering
scaffolds characterize the final
week of work on Ashland High's
sister-gym.
The final week of interior work
consisted of installing plumbing
fixtures and the laying of tiles for
the basketball court.
"I hope to have my men out of
the interior some time today,"
said contractor Elmer South.
"Then the only work will remain
on certain touch-up jobs on the
exterior."
The scheduled date for its open
ing has not been set at this
moment.
The installation of tiles for the
basketball court has taken
almost two weeks. "There are no
special problems," said tiler Mel
Peterson. "It's just tedious work
laying a floor as intricate as
the three classes."
Pep assembly attendance has
been extremely lax. and "the
only reason is just the general
lack of interest in sports among
the students," said one cheer
leader. Cheerleaders trv to make
the pep assemblies as interest
ing as possible and still stay with
the traditional format; however,
in spite of their efforts there is
still a noticeable lack of student
