In Mojave Desert
RatS Invade Computer Center
(Note: As some readers may
recall, in January, 1972, the
Rogue News published a docu
ment titled "Rats Emerge from
the City Depths," which dealt
with the revelation that hordes of
intelligent rats are planning to
conquer the world.
We can only speculate that
movies such as Willard" and
"Ben" represent an uneasy
suspicion some people may have
that a rodent uprising is im
minent. Herewith is another
document pertaining to the
coming crisis.)
In the heart of the Mojave
Desert there is a mighty govern

lions of feet of computer tape
record data gathered from all
over the world. This complex is
the safeguard of the Western
Hemisphere.

Mojave complex.
To put it simply, one evening I
left my office and was proceeding
down the neon-lit hall in the Data
Section. I became aware of a
strange rattling sound emanating
from behind one of the doors
labeled Al'TIIORIZED PER
SONNEL ONLY.
Quickly turning my key in the
lock, I entered, flicking on the
light, my pulse hammering. If
there was an intruder here
A scene of horror met my eyes.

That is what happened on the
night of 24 August 1972.
Now it seems interesting to me,
to say the least, that these rats
would choose to attack an
intelligence base and partic
ularly that room. There is no food
at all there. Why should they

"Lights!"
"Camera!"
"Action!"
The camera is rolling at
Ashland High School. The new
Sony Vidio-Tape Machine has
already become a recognized
part of AHS's teaching methods.
The camera, which is to be
used throughout the school, has
already been used in the English
department. The camera allowed
English teachers a chance to
evaluate their instructing meth
ods on sophomores. "It permits
the teacher to sit back and look at
his performance," said English
teacher Donald Vondracek. "He
gets to see what the student
sees."
Drama students also were
benefitted by the new camera.
During a week when the students
were performing pantomimes,
the camera proved vital in
allowing them the chance to
