According to Coach Bob Julian,
the field will include ten teams

Lack of people and experience
has been the major cause of

Although they have w on but one
game, they have been closer than
the score indicates. The sopho

the second half due to a mental
breakdown and missed assign
ments. These problems ran be
corrected with experience.
The experience will have to
come fast because the remaining
three games look like tough ones.
Monday they go against always
tough Klamath Falls on their
home field and then face Crater

state, will be here," Julian
commented of his hardest com
petition. The season has so far been
quite successful. I'ntil the Gil
christ meet four weeks ago. the
harriers had been undefeated and
actually untested. Thus going
into the Gilchrist Invitational, the
Grizzlies may have been a bit
over-confident. That cost them
first place. The following week
they returned to the winning
column by defeating llosehurg,
25-31.
Their "early lesson in over
confidence" may prove to be a
valuable asset as they go against
the Crater Comets this afternoon
in Lithia Park at 3:45 p.m. AHS
defeated the Comets in the first
two meets of the season but this is
midseason. Even so, a win can be
predicted.
After a day of rest, the 1971
state champions will host the
invitational meet at Emmigrant
Lake starting at 10:00 a.m.,
October 14. Go out to the lake and
root AHS on to victory.

Having a mental breakdown
and only playing 2 quarters of

of the 12 record that has
confronted the sophomore foot

Grizzlies Try
For Comeback
Running out of the new
triple-option offense the Ashland
High Grizzlies have proven
themselves as contenders for the
district six football crown.
Through the first four games of
the 1972 football season the
Grizzlies have gone undefeated
and unscored upon, but has not
reached into the top 10 teams in
the state as of yet. Gary Meyers,
Grants Pass football coach says,
"I can't figure why Ashland
hasn't been rated." Meyers along
with the other district six coaches
have shown high respect for the
Ashland Squad.
Tonight on Ashland soil the
team goes against Klamath
Falls. Klamath hasn't shown
much and have not yet won a
game, being beaten convincingly
in their past outings. Coach Keith
Garrett has heard that "Klamath
Falls likes to run at people, but
aren't able to generate a ground
game."
At any rate the game should be
an exciting one.

Studebaker
Scott Studebaker was tabbed as
the outstanding Grizzly harrier
by his coach. Bob Julian.
"He is a real devoted and
talented runner," Julian said of
his star cross-country runner.
"Scott is one of the top men in
the slate." Julian said. Stude
baker has been instrumental in
the Grizzlies' success thus far
this year. Even though it must be
an entire team effort, his
dominance as number one man
on the squad adds tremendously
to the team itself.
"The whole team is made up of
well-talented boys" but Scott has
appeared at the top more often
than not. His only superb
performance was in the cold, wet.
