The Ashland Junior -Varsity
football team played the
Medford Black Tornado on
October 12 and the Roscburg
Indians on the 17th, winning the
first game 8-6 and losing the
second 40-6.
In the Medford game, Al
Lord scored the Grizzlies only
touchdown on a run. The Bears
Liter added a two-point safety
when the defensive team kept
the Tornados bottled up near
their own goal line and their
punter stepped out of the
end-zone.
Grizzly Coach Keith Ganett
said of the game, "We really
wanted to win this game, and we
hit harder than Medford did. All
in all, the team did real well. Al
lord and defensive end Dale
hkstrom did an especially fine
job."

Coach William Leybold
stated, "The Medford team
threw fairly well, but our
secondary did a pretty good job
of containing and stopping their
passing attack."
In the Roseburg game,
George Morse scored Ashland's
only touchdown on a plunge
over the middle.
Said Coach Garrett about the
game, "Many of our key players
were injured and could not play,
and because of this our offense
bogged down and we couldn't
move the ball."
Coach Leybold went on to
say, "The defense played most
of the time, as the offense could
not control the ball. Still, the
defensive team contained
Roseburg well until the fourth
quarter, when the Indians scored
most of their touchdowns."
