Ashland Rally Squad Boosts
Conference Games Spirit
Grizzly Runners
Win Invitationals
PSST, PSST, PSST, have you
heard about the "SPIRIT BUG"
running full force through the
halls of Ashland High School?!!?
The rumor is that A.H.S. is our
to be No. I . Tomorrow night's
game will prove this rumor to be
absolutely true!!!
The overwhelming spirit of
the Varsity Rally has helped
stimulate that contagious "bug".
Diane Jensen, rally queen, along
with her six high-spirited
promoters, have been
distributing "goodies" to the
football players and cross
country runners. (A little reward
for their hard earned efforts.)
A delicious cake,
multi-colored suckers, and
Scream in' Yellow Zonkers are
just a few "goodies" received by
the athletes.
The cheerleaders have been
getting it together by plastering
the walls of A.H.S. with spirit
boosting messages. "WE'RE
NUMBER 1", "THIS IS THE
YEAR OF THE BEAR", and
"S1NGLER-YOU TURKEY!!"
arc just a few examples of those
illustrious messages to our loyal
and patriotic students.
The Varsity Rally is planning
to seU "SPIRIT" ribbons for the
coming conference games. They
would like it to be understood
that these ribbons are not for
brutally strangling our winded
enemy. (Remember the 20-0
stomp Oct. 10, 1969.)
Congrats to Diane and her
other cheerleaders, Cindi Dale,
Debbie Edwards, Deb Revel,
Susan Travis, Becky Warren, and
Renee Wentela.
This year has only just begun,
the cheerleaders, players and
students HAVE NOT YET
BEGUN TO EIGHT!!!!

At a tri-meet between
Ashland, Medford, and Grants

course with Claude
Neuenschwander of Ashland
placing second one second
behind Bunker.
Last Thursday the Grizzlies
attended a meet in Klamath

again led the Grizzly squad and
finished in second place behind

Roseburg here at 3:45.
The junior varsity football
squad is undefeated thus far this
season with a record of one win
and no losses. Two other games
scheduled to be played were
canceled by Klamath Falls and
Yreka.
The gridders captured their
win over Crater by a score of
20-18 due to the outstanding
running of Kim Rickert and the
fine passing of Bill Fagan.
Scoring the touchdowns for the
Ashland team were Randy
McDougall with Mike Testerman
scoring the point after. Kim
Kickert tallied as he scored on a
quarterback sneak and the other
touchdown was scored by Al
Lord.
Coach Keith Garrett
remarked that the team showed
a good offense but said the
defense needs some work.
SOPH
The sophomore squad is
doing an exceptional job this
season with a 3-0 record. Last
week the team defeated Yreka
34-8 to capture their third win.
The team was helped along by
the running of Larry Toney who
gained 217 yards in 17 carries
and by the pass interceptions of
Charlie Lewis who ran 60 yards
to score after intercepting a pass.
Jay Caldwell also intercepted a
pass and returned the ball 20
yards. The sophs rolled over
Crater by a score of 50-14 and
clobbered Klamath Falls with a
