dash. Beadle was also a member
of the first-place mile relay
team, consisting of Al Lord,
Roger Hall, Mike Toney, and
Beadle. The team ran an
impressive 3:28.0 clocking, only
eight tenths off their season's
best time.
Roger Hall snagged a couple
big ribbons for the squad in the
hurdle contests. His high hurdle
time of 14.2 easily outscored his
rivals, and his low hurdle time of
19.5 broke both school and
district marks in the event.
Jim Pardee, leaping 22-9 to
an easy first place in the long
jump, also put in an outstanding
performance at the meet.
Besides his long jump victory, he
placed third in the pole vault
with 13-3, and his time of 20.4
in the low hurdles was only a
third place, but was below the
state qualifying time and won
him a berth in the state meet.
Grabbing a second place
ribbon for the Bruins wasjunior
Mike Toney, who followed
Beadle to the tape in the 440
with a 50.8 time, ran a leg on
both the 440 and the mile relay
teams, and placed fourth in the
220 yd. dash among a fast field.
Brian Kieling came through
with a big 6-0 in the high jump,
also good for a strong second
and a state berth.
Dennis Teskey tossed the
shot an impressive 52-7 with a
personal season's best
performance.
All seven of these winners
will represent AHS at the state
track meet this weekend in
Eugene, posing a real threat to
competition with the possibility
of bringing home the state title.
Not only did those who made
the state competition do well,
but several tracksters posted
personal season bests and turned
in exceptional performances.
The 440 relay team posted a
time of 44.2, placing third
behind Medford and Roseburg,
