Henry Carr Jewelers Keepsake and Orange Blossom Diamonds WATCHES - JEWELRY - GIFTS Christmas 1964 will be my first Christmas in a Christian family, my American family. The cold weather (maybe snow), the stars twinkling in the dark sky, Christmas songs, and the beliefs of Jesus Christ and St. Nicholas will give me the opportunity to know a real Christmas. In my country, besides Catholic families celebrating on the night of Dec. 24, some families cele brate Christmas by organizing a Christmas party. They invite friends to come dance, eat, and drink. Then they go to the church at midnight and when they go home they have "Revculon" (a feast). The main streets around the cathedral are very crowded on that night. In my family, my parents take my little brothers and sisters to the movies, and we, the older children, can go to a party if we have been invited. When all of us are home, we start to have our Reveillon." We do not celebrate New Years because we have our own New Years. We follow the lunar calendar so our New Years will be in February. On the first day if the New Year, we give gifts to our parents and we wish them prosperity, longevity, and hap piness. Then they give each of us a red envelope with a China character printed on it. In fciose envelopes they put money. It is a tradition that grand parents parents, relatives, and our parents' friends give us money. Money is the symbol of luck in the New Year. Sharon Schmelzer ...
