Qobbeir the Cavemeira -Friday!!
Cruising the Campus With Turk
By Gerald
The proud owner of the two
door '58 Ford is Gary Winners,
a senior. This car has many
exciting features such as the 352
cubic inch Thunderbird engine
with a street cam, a four-inch
bore and stroke, a big four-barrel
and lots of go!
Gary had it painted jet black
which is quite a change from the
old yellowish look. It's 1 really
appealing to the eyesight.

Klamath Falls was stunned
196 at Klamath, September 28,
as Tim Voth racked up all three
Ashland TD's and kicked an extra
point for the fighting' Grizzly
team.
A determind Crater team held
Ashland to a 6-6 tie until late in
the third quarter when an inter
ception led to another Cub touch
down with the Grizzlies winning,
18 6. Terry Clark caught a Crater
fumble and ran for a touchdown
with Voth sprinting for the other
two on October 7.

Medford, here, November 4; and
Eagle Point, here, November 11.
Mud was the result after the
Ashland Sophomores rolled over
Yreka Friday, October 11, 12-0.
Dave Lewis intercepted a Yreka
pass in the first counter, and
scored, and Terry Clark ran for
the second touch down in the
second quarter. Ashland sent in
the second teams in the third
quarter and used them the rest
of the game.
Gray Outlines
Strong Points
Of Grizzlies
We plan to "give them a real
tough ball game," said Coach
Gray to it his editor, concerning
the Oct. 18 game. He outlined
our teams strong points as a
fast, tough line, two excelent
passers, a strong belly series, and
good replacements. The team's
speed was placed at average and
even with Lohman and Barger's
passing, the team is plagued with
weak receiving.
Mr. Gray said, after scouting
the Grants Pass team, that Isabel,
Sparlin, VanKoten, and Ireland
are speedy assets to the Cavemen.
The Cavemen also have good pas
sing. Any weak spots would be
found in their line. Their state
rating is second.
This game will be Grants Pass'
second conference game. Our boys
have been developing the right
attitude to meet the Cavemen for
some time now. The chief problem
they will face will be containing
the Cavemen and keeping them
from going wide. Our duty is to
develop the right attitude and
encourage the team.
Ashland Grizzlies
Win Two In a Row
Yes, another win for our mighty
Grizzlies. Before an almost capa
city crowd the Grizzlies did it
again. With two tochdowns in
the second quarter coupled with
a safety in the first period, the
Bears upset the Yreka Miners
15 to 6.
A series of penalties didn't
seem to hurt the morale of our
team: Mike Toteson made sixty
yards in twelve runs, John Buck
had twenty-four in seven carries,
and Scholer had twenty yards by
five tries.
AHS Sophomores
Stomp Baby Pels
The Ashland High School
Sophomores stunned the Klamath
Falls Baby Pels 19-6 as they kept
their undefeated record at 2-0.
Tim Voth scored all three
touchdowns and kicked the extra
point in the injury-prone game
held Saturday, September 28, at
Klamath Falls. Greg Scott scored
Klamath's only counter.
Voth capped a 61 yard advance
with a four yard jaunt around
right end as Ashland scored first
in the initial quarter.
Klamath took advantage of a
short Ashland punt and made the
only successful Pelican drive of
the afternoon, as Scott dove over
from the one yard line.
Ashland tallied again in the
second quarter on a 53 yard drive
topped by a 30 yard trot by Voth
on a pitch from Ross Coldwell.
Voth plunged one-yard in the
fourth quarter for Ashland's
third touchdown which started
on the 50 yard line after the two
teams had gone scoreless during
the third quarter.
Coach Lance Locke made special
mention of performances by Terry
Clark on both offense and de
fense and Wayne Cullop, who
turned in a ypadal defensive
performaac.

Top Cross-Country Scorers Named
Mr. Crane feels that we could
have the best cross-country team
in five years this season. So far,
AHS Bears Crush
Sweet HomeTeam
Speed made up for any fumbles
and mishaps by the Bruins on
Sept. 27. The result was a fast
moving, 21 to 7, win against the
Sweet Home Huskies. Red-dogging
defense and speedy offense
were displayed by the Grizzlies
throughout the game.
A tight offensive line coupled
with a pitchout gained many
yards and two touchdowns for
touchdowns by Mike Torreson
was a sweetly intercepted pass
on the Huskies 14-yard line which
Mike hustled into the end zone.
Dave Barger picked up each of
three free points just as if they
were rally free.
Coach Gray sent in the lower
string in the last minutes, at
which time the Huskies made
their only score.
Having been nearly three years
since AHS won a football game,
the Grizzlies are presented with
a new problem. AHS knows how
to take a loss; now they must
learn how to accept a win.
