The Grizzlies were victorious over the Big Wind by a score of 64-62 in a very close, exciting game. This never to be forgotten game ended a long 57-game losing streak for Ashland. This event caused cele bration as the whole town was informed of Ashland's victory by horn honking and victory yells and screams. Immediately follow ing the game Ashland rooters poured onto the floor to con gratulate the boys and begin the celebration. In this foul-filled encounter the Grizzlies were charged with 34 fouls while Medford committed 23; however, this did not slow down the determined Grizzlies who had a .420 average in shoot ing field goals. Ashland lost five players on fouls and Medford, two; but the Bears continued to outplay Medford due to the depth in the Grizzly lineup. The loss of Hill and Forde was a big blow to the Medford attack. The Tornado fought gamely down to the final buzzer and almost tied it up at the end but they could not beat the clock. Ashland's basketball team with viotories over Medford and Klamath Falls appear to be on their way to their bigge9t season in years and re cognition from everywhere in the state. I think Ashland has one of the best teams in the state and I am happy that they are proving it, now. The Ashland wrestling team has been doing well and has been improving steadily but lacks the depth which good team must have. In most of the weight classes Ashland has only one boy to compete and in some weight classes the Bears do not have anyone to respresent them. Other schools in the league have four or five teams while Ashland has only one. Ashland could have a victorious wrestling team with more sup port. More wrestlers are needed and so is support from the student body. It is still possible for Ashland to get the state championship.
