Girls' Recreational Association
Holds Slumber Party Jan. 11
Interspersed with frequent
games of basketball until the wee
hours of the morning, the GRA
slumber party was a real blast
according to the members who
attended the event Friday, Jan
uary 11, in the gym.
After Kathy Zimmerlee and
Dian Murphy had finally set
up the record player to every
one's satisfaction, most of the
girls had arrived and the fun
began. A game of basketball
betwec.1 the scr.ior-junior team
and the sophomores was the first
event of the evening. Although
the gam:' was continued through
out tiio niht and the next
morning and never quite finished,
it was generally agreed that the
uppcrclussmen had won.
, When the girls had finished
eating one of their numerous
snacks about eleven, they began
to plav Flashlight Tag, a game
which must be played in pitch
darkness. As a result of this dark
ness, several people managed to
fall down the stairs and various
other injuries were sustained.
Although some of the less
hardy girls had gone to bed about
one o'clock Saturday morning,
the remaining girls played Murder
but this became rather boring
after a while as the only person
who managed to get murdered
was Jane Smith.
After eating again most of
the girls retired about 4:00 a.m.
with the exception of a few who
decided to serenade the sleeping
friends with their own versions
of "Jesus Loves Me," "Jingle
SWEET SHOP
FOUNTAIN
AND
LUNCH
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Bells," and "Row, Row, Row
Your Boat." Finally even these
die-hards gave up about five in
the morning.
Promptly at 7:00 Miss Shirley
Laney was running around turn
ing on lights, putting ice down
the girls' backs, playing loud
music and, in general, trying her
best to annoy the sleeping girls
Then the girls went home to get
some sleep!
Those girls attending the party
were Bev Hartford, Nan Hester
Beth Iba, Dian Murphy, Mary
Peabody, Nancy Raspone, Jane
Smith, Jill Thompson, Kathy
1'ilford, Margaret Van Brunt,
Sandy Watts and Kathy Zimmer
lee. These girls were chaparoned
by Miss Shirley Laney and Mrs.
Lucy Susee.
Flair for Fashion
By Linda Weber
Why wait for spring? It's here
now with the dazzling splash of
color that gleams and glistens
from the many store windows
of every town. What girl is not
fascinated and thrilled by new
fashions in shoes?
Let us pause to see what the
1963 spring styles have to offer
in footwear.
The glamor of spring shoe fash
ions certainly turns the spring
ho?s into conversation pieces.
There are three outstanding new
style changes of great importance
in the shoo world this spring. The
first is the open look which
usually means the closed toe with
open heel or the open shank
is considered high style for dress
shoes. These are usually found
in the higher priced bracket.
The second "new" in spring
shoes is the use of intense and
vivid colors such as apple red
along with new pastels with
enamel yellow and china blue
leading the color parade. Alum
num grey and nude are basic
along with black patent as a
must in every girls shoe ward
robe.

Who is the Mystery student?
Mystery Student?
Our mystery student at the aee
of 2 when this picture was tak
en, had the same magnetic per
sonality that this picture still has
today.
A friend to everyone, a helping
hand when needed, even temper
ed, square shooter, and a good
mixer tells us some of the qual
ities this student possesses. He is
a lover of sports, a good dancer,
ind an enthusiastic booster of
Ashland High.
Make a guess as to this stu
dent's identity and turn it in to
any member of the journalism
class. Watch for the results in
the next issue of Rogue News.
Who knows maybe the next one
will be YOU.
