GP Cavemen
Ashland moved back into second
place in conference standings by
trimming the Cavemen in a game
that lasted 12 innings.
The Grizzlies are now in a
second place tie with the Klamath
Pelicans, because of the 4 to 3
win over Grants Pass.
Ashland clinched the scoring
in the top of the 12th inning
when Rick Callahan got on base
on an error and was driven home
by Rick Pierce.
Rick Hester scored the first run
in the first inning when he singled
and was brought in on a GP error,
but in the third inning. Grants
Pass went ahead 3 to 1. Then
Ashland tied the game in the top

Ashland, having their best base
ball season in several years, U
tied for second place in the South
ern Oregon Conference with
Klamath Falls. Both Ashland and
Klamath have four wins and two
losses.
Next week Ashland ends their
season when they play Medford
Friday and Klamath Saturday. If
Ashland wins both games they
will be assured of a tie for first
place. If Ashland and Medford
tie, there will be a special play-off
game.
In track, Ashland completed the
season by losing to Grants Pass.
Next Saturday they go to the dis
trict meet at Klamath Falls.
The tennis team also ended
their regular conference play and
went to district a week ago. Ken
Stevenson and Ken Mitchell took
second in doubles at the district
meet and will now go on to
compete in the state tournament.
In JV baseball, the only JV
spring sport, Ashland has beaten
Medford and Crater each twice,
lost twice to Klamath, Grants
Pass, and Crater. Several JV
players have also been playing in
the second games of the varsity
doubleheaders. They end their
season the same time the varsity
does when they play Klamath here
next Saturday.
One other thing is that the
coaches and players hope that
everyone who can possibly make
it, come out and see Ashland beat
Medford this coming Friday.
