Cupid's Ball
Held Feb. 17th
On Friday. February 16, 1962,
Ashland Senior High School held
their annual Cupids Ball.
Admissions was 75 cents stag
and $1.00 acouple. The dance
being held at the Elks Lounge
started at 8:00 p.m. and ended at
11:00 p.m.
The Elks Lounge was decorated
in red and white, with cupids and
hearts as the designs.
Music was furnished by Mr.
Maddox and the band.
King's Court was as follows: King

GOVERNMENT
The Young Men Christian's As
sociation sponsers a Youth Legis
lative in Salem. Oregon every
year. Each Hi-Y and Tri-Hi Y
club may select two or its mem
bers to be delegates, senators, or
representives. and two observes.
They may also have one member
elected to a state office.
There are three objectives to
this program. The first is to
anable Hi-Y and Tri ll Y members
to better understand the process
of American democratic govern
ment. Another is to provide ex-1
pei ience in developing use for
constructive legislation. The third ;
objective is to inform youth of the
problems, privileges, obligations i
and responsibilities in the Amer
ican democracy.
Every club works out a new j
bill or amendement which they
feel would make a good state law.
Zeta Tri Hi-Y Rill states students
that are in county juvenile homes
should be given educational in
struction. The presented this bill at the
district meeting. District three,
which includes Roseburg, Ash
land, and Klamath Falls, met
Saturday February 17, at Southern
Oregon College.
Here five state officers were
elected. Geri Rodgers, of Ashland
High, was elected Chaplain of the
Senate. Clerk of the Senate is to
be Nancy Nicol of Klamath Falls.
Kieth Brostad of the Ashland Hi-Y
was elected Sergeant at Arms of
the House. The Legislative Com
mittee Chairman is to be Donita
Hart of the Tri-Hi-Y in Roseburg.
