leap, and in the shuttle hurdle
relay, with a team composed of
Forest Farmer, Jim Hamilton,
Tod Hess, and Voris.
In the invitational mile, Ash

JANITOR INTERVIEWED
FOR SCHOOL PAPER
Mr. Lloyd Wenaus, head jan
itor of Ashland High School,
feels he missed his calling. He
should have been a shoe repair
man. Many times since coming
to work here, students have
come to him with a broken
strap or heel which he has
speedily fixed. "
Mr. Wenaus graduated from
Ashland High School in 1936
after spending one and a half
years in our hallowed halls.
He came originally from Sas
katchewan, Canada. He lived
on a farm with his six sisters
and one brother.
He has held various odd jobs
and warked for the Southern
Pacific Railroad in Dunsmuir,
California. He has also worked
in an Ashland lumber company
i ior 11 years.
The main troubles of Mr.
Wenaus are the lockers. Com
binations frequently will not
work, and papers are some
times thrown on top of them.
He also repairs windows and
furniture.
Mr. Wenaus stated that the
students this year have been
above average in that there has
been less destructiveness this
year.

PROSPECT 10-8
Victory number one for the
Ashland High baseball team
came April 1 when the Griz
zlies got by Prospect by a 10-8
score.
Going into the eighth, Ash
land had built up a command
ing 7-1 lead, but in the top half
of that inning they saw their
lead melt and finally fade a-
way as Prospect tallied seven
runs and took a one run lead.
Ashland came back in the
last half of the eighth as Steve
Harris drove in Larry Pierce
and Jerry Hauck with a single,
giving the hometown crew
back the lead. After advancing
to third, Harris then stole
home with an insurance run.

the disastrous eighth inning.
struck out the side in order to
end the game.
Crater Tops
Ashland Nine
Crater knocked off Ashland,
7-4, in the first baseball game
of the season for both teams
March 27. The game was a non

the Crater field.
In the first two innings, the
Comets picked up a total of
four runs with only one hit.
Five walks, two errors, and a
wild pitch helped them take a
4-0 lead.
The Grizzlies scored three
runs in the third inning to pull
within one run of the Comets,
but Crater added three more
to put the game on ice.
