SENIOR CLASS DONATES
DIMES TO INDIA'S YOUTH
Mr. Lewis's American Prob
lems ' classes donated their
dimes to provide more "Sun
shine" magazines for the youth
of India.
"Sunshine" magazine is pub
lished in India by Dr. G. S.
Krishnayya, a leading educa
tor. It offers a variety of
stories, news articles, and oth
er features, for the purpose of
helping Indian youth to be bet
ter informed and to understand
more about democracy.
India's youth and family has
little money and it is a struggle
for them to stay in school.
They do not have enough mon
ey to buy a "Sunshine" maga
zine, which they desire. For
this reason, the American Ob
server publishers are asking
for dimes from all U. S. stu
dents who receive their maga
zine, according to Mr. Lewis.
Sisters Audition
For Talent Scout
Carol Phelps, Ashland High
freshman, along with four sis
ters, sang for Mr. Alexander
Lake, author and talent scout,
of Smith River, California.
After hearing the girls sing,
Mr. Lake invited the Phelps'
sisters to his home in Californ
ia. While there, they were
photographed. Later some of
the pictures appeared in the
Ashland Daily Tidings. It is
hoped a chance to appear on a
Talent Show may be the result.

George Fredrickson, our new
school mascots. They attend all
our home games and know one

When confronted with the
question: Would you like to be
our school mascot? Wes re-
olied. "What's a mascot?" Now
they both know.

Clues broadcast over KWIN
were collected by the Faren
hurst family for two weeks be
fore the hunt. Sunday after
noon they drove toward Table
Rock but heard the clue: " . . .
a town the same name as a
town in Arizona" over KWIN
and turned at Phoenix.
"A road which ended in
'creek'," was the next clue they
heard. They drove toward Cole-
man Creek road where they
turned to the right by chance.
After looking for the treasure,
KWIN gave a new clue: "If
you are on pavement get on a
dirt road."
Driving up the first dirt
road, they passed a dump men-
tioned in another clue. They
continued on until they were
forced , to stop between two
other cars on a side road.
