FOOTBALL PROSPECTS
Ashland's football schedule
for next year will be made up
from the 13 lettermen who will
return; there will be a man for
each position on the field. The
team lost four tackles, but ap
pears to have good prospects of
a very small, but fairly fast
team. The team will have good
passing and running potential,
but the line will be the big
question for next year. The
team will be playing one of its
toughest schedules in many
years.
BASKETBALL OUTLOOK
Ashland will begin basket
ball next year with only two
returning lettermen. They are
Doug Forrest and Bob Hardy,
however. Coach Earl Iba hopes
lo have a lot of talent from
squad during the '58-'59 sea
those who played on the "B"
son. The schedule will be tough
but the team hopes to do better
next year than was done this
year.
BASEBALL FUTURE GOOD
Those who return to play for
next year's baseball team will
have experience in both infield
and outfield positions. The ten
boys who return next year
should be quite strong in both
fielding and hitting, but the
loss of the three pitchers is go
ing to be hard to overcome.
"We hope to have a good turn
out next year," stated Coach
Bill Leybold.
HOPES FOR TENNIS
The tennis team will have
only three lettermen and six
freshmen returning for next
year's matches. The team has
good hopes of winning more
matches next year.

The Grizzlies are finishing
the season in sports and we're
ready to give the seniors a
rousing salute for a successful
season in many ways.
We're going to take the posi
tive attitude, and not the nega
tive side and see what happens.
In football we shoot the
spacelight on the "do or die"
Medford game against one the
the toughest teams in the state,
and at the beginning of the
fourth quarter, big Phil Roden
mayer at the tackle, Ron John
son in and out at the end, were
smashing down the interfer
ence, with Larry Haynes and
Alan McKinnis, and Dennis
Johnson meeting the big Tor
nado head-on at the line of
scrimmage. Don't forget Jerry
Teppcr at center, Ken Fletcher
at a tackle spot and Dee Scl
by working at half.
Don't forget that rough one
with Klamath 38-54. when our
seniors' fiery Jim Bjork with
his potshots. Bob Johnson and
Clark Smith on the boards a
gainst Peterson of Klamath,
and the ballet jump shots of
Denny Taylor.
Buzzy Parker was the mad
man of the wrestling ring with
8 wins and 6 losses. Buz was a
"mean hog" with all his con
ference opponents, will go like
a house-a-fire in college.
To the big "arm" in baseball,
Peter Stemple, we throw the
strong light on Pete because
Pete has come through many
times in the clinches with his
pitching for the thrillers. Big

Here's one for the future
Davis Cup winners (we know)
Jerry Joy, finalist in the in

Club indoor tournament, al
most beat the famous tennis
star Tod Tibbutt of Medford.
Jerry has been the big "swing"
in tennis on the Grizzly tennis
squad and should go big at Mo
desto Junior College.
These boys will be missed
next year, and here's good luck
to them in college. They'll be
in the spacelight there.
