Bench Subjected lo Destruction
The senior bench is a symbol of gratitude to
AHS from the graduating class of '54.
It is a tradition here at AHS for each senior
class to buy a gift for the school. They buy these gifts
with their class money, and some of them are quite
expensive. These gifts are a way of saying "thanks"
to AHS for all the fun 'they've had, the friends
they've made, and all the little things they will have
to remember.
The senior bench is valued very highly by the
seniors, but it seems that some people do not under
stand. Students here in Ashland and the adjoining
towns do not respect the property of others when
they insist on using destructful acts against it.
Underclassmen, you will soon be seniors and
I'm sure, if you have any school loyalty at all, you
wouldn't like for someone to destroy your class sym
bol. Someday you will be able to stand on the bench
and defend it from the underclassmen, too.
It is rumored that if this senior bench continues
to cause trouble it will be taken out. We're asking
the students of AHS to consider all these things we
have said so that we will be able to keep the senior
bench for years to come.

It has been noticed that the
juniors could participate more
in extra-curricular activities at
AHS. The juniors have a junior
prom coming up In the future
which is a very expensive ac
tivity. If the class will start
sponsoring dances and fund
raising drives, they will be
able to finance the dance which
will encourage more participa
tion. Wouldn't it be possible to
form a committee to make a
schedule for the remainder of
the year with interesting pro
jects that can be worked out?
We've had about 40 par
ticipation at clais meetings,
and much less representation
on class activities. It will take
complete cooperation of all the
class to have a successful year
and make the prom a success.
The juniors do have pride of
class. Perhaps the seniors do
have a big class, but many jun
iors believe that the juniors
have the creative brains, the
tenacity to put on the prom in
spite of all obstacles.
They can show the sopho
mores and freshmen that they
know how to do things. Let's
get on the ball, juniors, and
show the school that all of us
have the drive and the pride to
put thing over.
