PAGE FOUH ROGUE NEWS FRI.. FEB. 28. 1958 Bears Split Crater Series The Ashland Grizzlies romp ed to an easy 57-41 victory over the Crater Comets on Fri day, Feb. 7. The Grizzlies ran up a quick 6-0 lead and from then on were never in trouble. Behind the hard driving of the guard, Al Hartwell, and the rebounding of Bob Johnson and Jack Tobiasson, the Griz zlies worked to a 29-20 half time lead. After the half the Grizzlies immediately began building up their lead, which by the end of the game was 16 points. Hartwell was high man for the Grizzlies and the evening with 16 points. Wayne Allen and Loyal Higinbotham each got 11 for the losers. On Saturday night the Griz zlies ran into a fired up Cra ter squad and lost 42-40. This game started out much the same as Friday's game with the Grizzlies running up an 8-1 lead in the opening min utes only to drop 4 points be hind at the half 27-24. After the intermission, the Grizzlies came .out and held Crater scoreless for 5 minutes and in the meantime rolled up a 4 point lead. Due to some costly fouls and bad passes the Griz zlies lost 42-40.
