Grizzly fortunes didn't fare too well with Jim Sulherlin, rebounding artist, riding the sidelines during the last Klamath Falls game and the last two games with "El Tor nado." However, now that Jim's leg seems to be all right. Bear chances are much better. Medford seems to be about the class of the league, thus far. In fact, they are rated No. 1 in the state. The Tornado may run into a stumbling block, howev er, when they meet with a "big man" who can rebound along with Kalapus and Peterson. When pitted against Eugene and 6' 8" Mike Moran earlier this year, the Tornado lost the first night by 9 points, and only managed to win the second by a single point. Dave D'Olivio Klamath Falls center, could nose a threat, as could sDrinsv Jim Sutherlin in the second Ashland-Medford series. Turning to the college scene, we find that "Swede" Halbrook, 7' 3" Oregon State center, has regained his eligi bility again. So far, Swede and the Beavers are undefeated in regular conference play. Southern California and U CLA will probably duel each other up till the final game for Southern division champ ions. Thus far, the Ashland Hi Freshmen team has lost but two games. Looks like the basket ball future for Ashland and Coach Al Simpson will remain bright. Then too, of the first six varsity players, four (Gene Parent, Phil Sword, Stu Baker and Harry Johnson) are juniors who will make a fine nucleus for Coach Simpson to build next year's team around.
