Band Active
During Games
Ashland High School band,
under the direction of Gordon
Mallory, has been very active
this year during games and pa
rades. Half-time shows have
been presented at every home
game and the band traveled to I
Klamath Falls for a football
game but no show was present
ed. j
A most impressive show was
put on at the Crater High
game. A big "C" was formed in j
honor of the visiting school.
The remainder of the show de
picted different forms of trans
portation. While forming a
sailboat, "Cruising Down the
River" was played. "A Bicycle
Built for Two" was played as
a bicycle was being formed.
Forming a car, "In My Merry
Oldsmobile" serenaded the
spectators. Finally a big "A"
brought applause from Ash
landers. This show was made more
impressive with hat lights.
The field was in total darkness.
Band has played in all noise
parades and rallys to add pep.
It was also active during the
Centennial Celebration, play
ing at the dedication of the
Civic Service Building and at
the pageant.

Due November 20
On November 20 a national
assembly will be held featuring
Jim and Ivy Greenhalgh, tal

The trampoling act consists
of different jumps, such as
landing flat on their stomach
land on their back, double
flips, and landing on their
hands and knees.
The skill and technique o f
riding a unicycle will be
shown. A unicycle seven feet
tall is called a giraffe. The
highest known giraffe is six

Al Caudel
Al Caudel was once a small
boy, and for that matter his
5 feet 4V4 inches are still small,
but what he lacks in size he
makes up for in personality.
Al was born in Richmond,
California, on February 22,
1936, and went to school there
until his junior year when he
came to Ashland.
His favorite food is ravioli,
and his favorite expression is
'play it cool." Hejikes to hang
out at the Sweet Shop.
Al says that his most in
teresting moment is when he
walks into the econ class and
sees Mr. Lewis' smiling face.
He also said that when he was
in the ninth grade he was Dean
of Boys on Student Govern
ment day.
As to a future occupation, Al
says he has none because he
will probably be drafted be
fore he can do anything else.

Nancy Graber
No one could help but notice
this small, 5 foot, blonde, blue
eyed girl who is always doing
something for someone any
time of the day. This little
blonde is Nancy Graber, better
known to everyone as Poppy.
Nancy was born on Febru
ary 8, 1934, in Hood River,
Oregon, where she lived until
she was 3 years old, and then
moved to Ashland. She has at
tended Ashland schools since
the first grade.
Nancy says that the most ex
citing thing that ever hap
pened to her was getting en
gaged. That goes along with
what she is going to do after
graduation get married.
Her favorite saying is "Oh,
silly," and for a pastime she
likes to stay at home. Her pet
peeve concerns her height. She
does not like to be called
"Shorty" or have someone ask
her when she is going to grow
up.
Nancy belongs to but one or

Johnie Johnson
"All right, you guys, let's
yell this time." As we all
know, this is a familiar cry
heard from our yell king,
Johnie Johnson, in the pep as
semblies every Friday morning
and at the football games.
Johnie was born in Cham
pagne, Illinois, December 6,
1935, and moved to Ashland
when he was ir. the sixth
grade.
Besides being yell king,
Johnie is drum major. He be
longs to the Letterman's Club
and Thespians.
Johnie's most embarrassing
moment was when he was driv
ing along and all of a sudden,
he ran into a 1950 Chevrolet.
(A parked one at that!)
His ideal girl must be about
5 feet 2 inches tall; have brown
hair, brown eyes, and a nice
figure. Most of all she must
have a good personality.
After graduation Johnie
wants to attend college, if pos
sible. He would like to stay at
ome so he will attend South-
Oregon College here in
